You mean I'm not the only one? ;)

Jenn C | 14 comments Started reading Hearse and Buggy (An Amish Mystery, #1) by Laura Bradford this morning on the bus ride to work. I happened upon the latest book in the series, read the first page or so and it sounded interesting...so I went back to the first of the series!

She's a new author for me (as are most of the cozies I'm been reading...since I'm fairly new to the genre and all!) and so far it's good! I'll probably finish it over the weekend! Exactly what the holidays are for! ;)

That book is next on my list! I just got into reading cozy mysteries this last year or two, so there are lots I haven't read yet! Good Luck!

Welcome, Jenn! I'm a moody reader too!

Lisa (mshinako) | 15 comments I read, and enjoyed, the first two Amish Mysteries last year, and am waiting for the third one this year. Looking forward to seeing what you thought.

Jenn C | 14 comments Finished Hearse and Buggy (An Amish Mystery, #1) by Laura Bradford last night (early this morning) at 1:30 am - couldn't put it down! I like the characters, I like the layering of the storytelling, and the easy pace. My background is as a romance reader, so that aspect of the story was welcome. I've already requested the second book from the library!

@Christina - definitely worth it!

Thanks for the welcome Yvonne! I'm looking forward to discovering new authors and seeing what everyone else is reading!

Whoo hoo! I can't wait to read it now!

Susie | 257 comments I've been 'saving' this one because it has everything I love in a good cozy and yes, the mood/vibe has to be sympatico...the anticipation grows after seeing your review!

message 12: by Arow (new)

Arow | 547 comments New to the group and this was the first thread I read, love the book suggestion and it is now on my list to read!

I also have issues choosing what to read next, moods and the direction life takes us everyday changes what I am in the mood for more often than not!

message 13: by Jenn (new)

Jenn C | 14 comments @Susie - worth the save!

@Arow - I've given up on participating in monthly reading challenges (for the most part) because of that reason. I would never finding it because my mood would switch my reading! ;)

message 14: by Arow (new)

Arow | 547 comments I agree, I have been apart of a few seasonal reading challenges with specific tasks and I just haven't enjoyed reading as much as I kept getting pulled in different reading directions. I am excited to just relax with a few cozies for the foreseeable future.

Jenn C | 14 comments Finished Don of the Dead (Pepper Martin, #1) by Casey Daniels today - cute read and I'll probably read more in the series (though I'm not going to be rushing out to get them).

Having heard it described as chick-lit cosy, I was a little leery about reading it, as chick-lit is one of the few genres that I actively avoid like the plague ;)

Though Pepper was slightly ditzy, it wasn't anything I couldn't live with - and with the (pre-requisite) love triangle, unusual setting (cemetery), and an interesting mystery, I found myself pleasantly surprised!

Jenn C | 14 comments I slacked off on my reading starting in early February - I was knitting instead (almost done my afghan!) Unfortunately, I caught the flu bug last weekend and have been in bed most of this week. When I started to feel a little bit better (the darn thing is still hanging on!), I started to read again!

I finished 7 cozies in 3 days! Though they were all good, I think my favourite by far was Laura Bradford's Shunned and Dangerous. I can't wait until i get my hands on book #4! The Threadville mystery series (Threaded for Trouble and Thread and Buried) is also getting better - no love triangle in sight thankfully! ;) I started two new series (The Quick and the Thread and If Walls Could Talk) that seem promising. I thought Todd was slightly smarmy - my money's on Ted (despite the name!) I loved Mel's dress sense and she was a refreshing change! I was sad to see the end of the Vampire chef mystery series (though at only two books, i guess it would be more a duo than a series!), but it ended well - everything wrapped up, except for one hint that could leave things open for an addition...

Assaulted Pretzel (An Amish Mystery, #2) by Laura Bradford Shunned and Dangerous (An Amish Mystery, #3) by Laura Bradford Threaded for Trouble (Threadville Mystery, #2) by Janet Bolin Thread and Buried (Threadville Mystery, #3) by Janet Bolin The Quick and the Thread (An Embroidery Mystery, #1) by Amanda Lee If Walls Could Talk (A Haunted Home Renovation Mystery #1) by Juliet Blackwell Let Them Eat Stake (Vampire Chef, #2) by Sarah Zettel

Jenn C | 14 comments Just started G'Day to Die (Passport to Peril, #5) by Maddy Hunter and I'm already giggling!

Jenn C | 14 comments I finished reading the first two books in G. M. Malliet's "Max Tudor" series and really enjoyed them. I have small quibbles with the text, but they are delightfully Poirot-ish!

Wicked Autumn (Max Tudor, #1) by G.M. Malliet A Fatal Winter (A Max Tudor Mystery, #2) by G.M. Malliet

Also continued with two more series - #3 in Bailey Cates' "Magical bakery mystery" and #2 in Rochelle Staab's "Mind for murder mystery" - enjoyed them both, though they were light reads...

Charms and Chocolate Chips (A Magical Bakery Mystery, #3) by Bailey Cates Bruja Brouhaha (A Mind for Murder, #2) by Rochelle Staab
