Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Jasmine and I (I'm hoping to convince a few more friends) want to read Rikki Ducornet's The Fan-Maker's Inquisition: A Novel of the Marquis de Sade back-to-back with Angela Carter's The Sadeian Woman: And the Ideology of Pornography.
This project will start on November 1 and finish around late December.

Thank you, Kris! I tried reading this once before, several years ago, but I think maybe the timing was off. I might give it a second chance.:)

Zanna (zannastar) | 337 comments I love how a little group impetus can bring us back to books

Hence, the power of books!

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Well, I have purchased Textermination, at least! Can we make this one for late November?

Also, I really still want to do the Herta Muller. Would anyone want to venture into January for that?

Oh yes, and the de Beauviour triptych with Durconet and Carter is still happening too, except that I have been struggling to get hold of the latter two books. :(

Zanna (zannastar) | 337 comments No problem getting the Sadeian woman, but I cannot obtain the Ducornet unless I spend over £20 and have it shipped from the US, which I'm not prepared to do. I will be reading Carter regardless...

Hmm, believe it or not, I'm finding the Carter scarce as well... where did you find a copy?

message 14: by Zanna (new)

Zanna (zannastar) | 337 comments I don't remember, but my usual sources are hive.co.uk, abebooks and bookdepository

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments There's too many books scheduled for November. Can we move either the Herta Müller, and/or the Carter/Ducornet on for December rather, please?

Whooo!! \O/
When is this great event taking place? Will it be in a feminist context? ...or more a 'literature' context, or perhaps both?

message 19: by Zanna (new)

Zanna (zannastar) | 337 comments My December is full too!! But I'm not reading Herta Muller so move that one hahahaha ; )

message 20: by Traveller (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Okay. Shall I move Herta to December or to Jan 2016? :P

She was also the writer at residence at my University a few years ago. I think it is mostly for the creative writers -- so more for a creative writing audience. The event is today.

Ah, so can you attend, or is it a closed reading? Would be rather a pity to miss it.

Lisa | 88 comments I'm ok with moving Muller a little down the list, I'm reading pretty slowly these days! Also I daresay that Beneath the Lion's Gaze (scheduled for end of October) will spill into November as well.
