To keep us going through these strange times we will keep adding more books to our reading group. Again we are picking up on the Rebellion theme of the Sheffield Year of Reading. Available to download here https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/lib...

The Silent Corner by Dean Koontz, first in series of five titles available as ebooks from Sheffield Libraries.
On fifth book at moment! Wow! Once you've started you can't stop.
Recommended to my Dad who loves a good thriller and he beat me to the end of the series.!
Go girl, female hero, just what the world needs

We love a book that you can’t put down! Especially a whole series of books once you start you can’t stop and then when you finish the series you miss it! If you fancy doing a review for us that would be great 👍

Jane Hawk, FBI agent searches for the truth after her husband commits suicide. She's an all action hero who manages to escape even the trickiest situations! A major conspiracy using frightening nanotechnology and a fast paced storyline keep you engrossed.
Thought the nano theme wouldn't be my cup of tea, but once I started realised I was hooked. Please let me know what you think?

Sandra Travis | 2 comments I loved the Val McDermaid series of books based on Psychologist Tony Hill and the detective Carol Jordan. The first one started about20 years ago, when the internet and some Technology references were in their infancy.. each book brought the main characters together a little more, v-becoming best friends, and I’m sure the story has finished yet. Hope there is another story with these two.

Claire Walker | 1 comments Hi, I would recommend Diary of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell. It's non-fiction, an amusing book and the author is definitely a rebel. I like it because it leads to other reads and it reminds me of working with the public. A great book for book-lovers and isolation. Only available as an audio book on Sheffield RB Digital at the moment.

Elizabeth (elzbthj) If anyone is looking for a good lockdown read, I just finished Mix Tape by Jane Sanderson and thought it was brilliant. The characters and settings are so well developed for a light read. Also, a good portion of the book is set in 1970s Sheffield! The author is also from South Yorkshire.

I really enjoyed reading about Sheffield in fiction, although unfortunately Attercliffe doesn't come off too well... ;-)

(Small FYI: There's a brief rape scene in chapter 19, roughly pages 319-20 (although this is the Kindle edition and page number will be different for paper copies). It doesn't last longer than a paragraph and isn't very graphic, while the overall tone of the book is light-hearted/a romance, but just in case anyone would like to be prepared/avoid this).
