It sure was - this was one of those books that when you think about it, you feel as though you are back "in" the book. I'm not sure what the word is for that; is it "evocative" or "atmospheric," or neither. I just know that I am transported back to where I was when I read the book, and I recall everything that happened in the story. Can't say that for everything I read.
