Tati and I are gonna read this book starting January 25th.

This is my first time joining a group, so I'll probably post sporadically, but I'm willing to try something new. Unfortunately I started a few days ago, because I thought it was Sami and I, so I'll wait for you guys to catch up.
Warning! I read this many years ago, so I'll do my best to avoid spoilers, which won't be hard given that my memory of the plot is sketchy at best, but it will come back at some point.

I'm five chapters in and though it's a little slow I still like it. It's better than what I was expecting.
...Am I the only one having a hard time remembering that Sabriel is a girl? Lol

Yeah, it's pretty slow... And I'm not finding it very engaging

I think it'll take me a while to get through...

I can sympathize, I remember the first time I read it I found it slow. It seems I don't have that problem this time.

I ended up liking it a lot. Rated it 4 stars.

Irene, I'm glad you liked it! So far, I can tell it's well written, but I am having a hard time getting into it and I'm hoping it'll be worth it in the end.

Chapter 8 (view spoiler)[ Mogget kind of reminds me of Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Also, that mordicant was scary af (hide spoiler)]

End of Chapter 8 (view spoiler)[ I thought this would be a simple, "extract dad from death-land and get the hell out" kind of book. But there seems to be ethics involved. And maybe her father will stay dead. I'm annoyed. I'd rather he lived. (hide spoiler)]

Chap 8
(view spoiler)[ This is kind of weird to read because there is really no dialogue, she is just walking around by herself and we see what she is doing. I can't think of anything I've read like this before, usually people go on journeys together! I hope she finds her dad, she seems really powerful (hide spoiler)]

Chap 11
(view spoiler)[ I hope her Dad isn't actually dead, she seems to be accepting it okay though. I'm kind of confused what the Abhorsen actually does though. (hide spoiler)]

Chap 16
(view spoiler)[ I'm glad she has the cat and Touchstone to walk around with now and talk to. That was cool how she brought him back to life. I want to know more of his story. I'm starting to worry they aren't going to find the Abhorsen and he really is dead or something (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ This took me forever to read but I didn't hate it. It was a little boring though. The romance with Sabriel and Touchstone was cute. I liked all the battle type scenes but there was really a lot of them. I did like this though, I'm going to read the next ones (hide spoiler)]

Going to start today. Not sure how long it will take me as books like this can take a little longer to read for me.

It took me forever for such a somewhat short book! It was really hard to read for long stretches of time

Finally getting into this! I didn't want to start until I'd finished Hero of Ages because I find it hard reading 2 fantasy books simultaneously, and it took forever!

Up to chapter 6 (view spoiler)[ I really liked the first couple chapters but it seems to be getting more drawn out and dull. I'm really into the necromancy and the magic system in this and idea of death Nix creates. It does throw you into it straight away, so I don't feel like we know that much about Sabriel and her life. Up to chapter 14 (view spoiler)[It's weird that this can be so action packed yet so slow. Something big and tense seems to happen in every chapter, but I'm not sure the overall story arc is that exciting. Moggett is a fun character though, minus the inner evil Dead creature. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 19 (view spoiler)[ Is Touchstone meant to be a love interest? After hearing the story, I still don't get why what he did was so wrong. My main issue with this is that none of the characters seem to have any personality. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 26 (view spoiler)[ So after all that, Sabriel's father is in this for like 2 seconds and then dies? How frustrating. The concept of Kerrigor being kept alive for centuries and being Touchstone's brother is interesting. I really don't care about the romance-where has it even come from? They've still barely spoke. Finally done! (view spoiler)[ This was sooooooo slooooooow. I just didn't have an attachment to the story or characters. I'm tempted to read book two just for the cats, they were one of the appealing things! The ending was pretty good compared to earlier, slower sections. I'm just not that impressed. (hide spoiler)]

I'm not sure but maybe an early 19th century type setting? Although the land across the wall is far less advanced, from what I remember. (hide spoiler)]
