“Blaire I’m kind of freaked out no one else came into the house with us” she said with panic in her voice. "Maybe its an animal” I said trying to convince myself. She looked at me paled face,“ Blaire no animal has big footsteps unless it was a bear which I kind of think there aren't any in this town,” she whispered. The footsteps were getting louder and closer as if someone or something was running our way. We screamed and ran out the door. We locked the doors to the house and ran to the car. “God what was that” said Lydia holding her chest. “ I don’t know but what I do know is that we are not alone” I said feeling scared. What was weird is that I felt an odd presence the minute I came into the house. For now this town is holding a secret, and I'm hoping I won't to find out.
We stayed in the car for a while and wondered if it was safe to go inside. “Hey maybe we should go grocery shopping to get time off our hands and hope whatever is in there leaves” Lydia suggested. I nodded in agreement. As were making our way to the nearest grocery shop I noticed a small shop. It looked like a bakery, but it was empty. “You get the stuff and ill get us some treats”, I said almost to quickly. She looked at me worried “ okay but be careful this town is weird” and gave me soft pat on the shoulder. “ Don’t worry about me I’ll be fine there are things called cell phones”, Pulling out my cell phone. She looked relieved when she saw my phone like she forgot I had one. “Okay be back in 20 minutes okay” she looked at me sternly. “Yes mom”, we both laughed.
As I approached the bakery it looked empty, but had an open sign. I walk in ringing a little bell I inhale the smell of frosting and cake. I looked at the cashier station and saw nobody there. As I was roaming taking in everything I see, I feel a cool rush of air. I turn around to see a woman, but not just any woman the one I saw earlier today. She stared at me “you shouldn't have come here” she told me in a soft tender voice. I looked at her confused. “It’s dangerous for you to be here they will see you and take you away”, she said in a whispers quickly. “Who are you? Who are they? Why do they want me?” I asked. She pulled me close and said “they are after you. Because you’re hidden”. I looked at her “what’s hidden?” She shook “Not yet. You can’t know yet. Find him…please he will help you.” she said and hurried off out of the store. I stood there blank and confused wondering what she meant by them and save him. “Hi can I help you?” a man asked in front of the cash register. “Yes, I have a question who is the woman who ran down the street there” I pointed in the direction she went in. he looked at me “Lucinda? Oh she’s the town’s librarian. Why do you ask?” I looked at him “ No reason. Could I have 4 cupcakes please?", As I got out of the bakery Lydia was waiting for me. “Hey those look amazing” staring at the cupcakes. “Yeah they were cheap too” I smiled as if nothing ever happened as if Lucinda didn't talk to me. The drive home was quiet and peaceful. We made it back to the house, but we were wary to go back inside. “ Okay I didn't tell you this, but I bought pepper spray from the store”, she said handing me a can. I looked at her worried “Okay let's go inside before we bring the stuff in” I said she nodded. We unlocked the door and everything was there as we left it. We checked every room. “ Okay we probably scared whatever it was off” she sighed in relief.
