Amanda One of my favorite authors! Reviews are great and this is reportedly one of her gems.

Tara | 22 comments I've been meaning to read this book, I'll join you in the bell jar!

message 3: by Tammy (new)

Tammy I'll join you!

Jana This is my chosen book for week 6, too. And I will be starting it today.

Jana I really enjoyed this reading experience. I had heard of the book, but didn't have any idea what it was about. I like the experience that gave me....

Samantha | 84 comments I will read this for week 6 also. Was finding it hard to choose a book for this week as there seemed an abundance of young adult books by authors under 30.

Samantha | 84 comments I finished this today and have to say that I enjoyed this book. I was a bit apprehensive as to the subject matter but it is hard to not get pulled in to the story. I have just read a bit about Sylvia Plath which indicates that this book is semi autobiographic.

Tammy I've decided to read The Pickwick Papers instead. I'm trying to choose books from my "owned but not read" shelf to meet as many of the challenges as possible.

Monique | 34 comments This book is on my to read shelf. I didn't realize I could use it for author under 30. I'll be reading this for week 6 now too

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments This is a brilliant book - I hope you all enjoy it!

Meran I'm not following along this year, as I need to reduce my actual To Read shelf which has too many books on it...

If I owned this book, I'd probably pick it up and read it with y'all.

This is one that I'm surprised I've never read. (It's an old classic, books I'm very partial to.) I'm a bit apprehensive though, because I know she committed suicide at a fairly young age. Is the book depressing at all? Have any of you reviewed it? And if so, would you mind linking me to your review?

Jody, what about the book did you find brilliant?

message 12: by Jody (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments Good question!

I suppose I am quite drawn to books about depression, as it's something that I have battled with for years. This book just really resonated with me - I find it comforting, I guess, when I read other people's accounts of the inner workings of their minds that mirror my own, fictional or otherwise.

So unfortunately I can't really comment on whether or not it's depressing, because, well ... that's pretty much my baseline. ;)

Bana AZ (anabana_a) | 414 comments I'm reading this for book at the bottom of your to-read list. I'm glad most of you like it. It's encouraging for when I get to it.

Krista (k_lou) | 48 comments I'm reading this for week six too, I'm going to have to read it alongside my week five book as I'm dragging with that one.

Krista (k_lou) | 48 comments I really enjoyed it, I thought it was very honest and she wasn't trying to make you like the characters just giving a very real look at the way the character or herself was thinking at the time.

Marie But did anyone of you get what the excessive bleeding after sex with Irwin was?

message 17: by Rona (new)

Rona (ronadareader) I am getting a start on reading this today for week 6, hopefully it isn't too depressing :-/
