The Amazing Race Team Challenge
April 11, 2020 through June 9, 2020
8 Week Dash For the Win!

Challenge Dates:
Signups open until April 11, 2020 at 9 PM US EDT.
Remaining Teams Assigned after signups close on April 11, 2020.
First Task Assigned April 14, 2020 at 6 PM US EDT.
Challenge Ends on June 9, 2020 at Midnight US EDT, tasks will not be accepted after this time.

Each team will work together to complete tasks. Once complete, you will be given another task to complete. After the first task, teams will be on different paths with tasks randomly assigned. The same tasks may be assigned to different teams at different times, but no task will be used more than once by the same team. Each team works at their own pace and the team that completes the most tasks at the end of 8 weeks will be the winner!

After the first task is given to everyone, when a team finishes their task they will need to report their completion in the Tracking/Q&A thread. I will confirm the completion and assign their next task. New tasks will not be assigned more frequently than every other day. I will attempt to respond quickly to confirm completion and assign new tasks, but please allow up to 24 hours. If I am unavailable, another mod will assign the task.

Each teammate will need to participate in each task, but may take a pass for one task during the course of the challenge. For some tasks, no passes will be allowed. Completions posts will need to be made when finishing each book for a task, similar to the PtP and Bachelor Challenges. A player will be removed if they make no comment for 5 days after a new task is assigned or 3 days after the rest of the team completes the task (whichever is later), despite attempts to make contact.

There is a 150 page minimum for books, rereads and audios ok. Books may only be used once per player during the challenge. Players may read the same book for a task unless otherwise specified. Books do not have to be romance, but must be fiction.

**For this challenge, use the GR Kindle first edition page count if available. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis**

I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 8, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Has anyone ever saw the show? I haven't, so I'm clueless with names for it. Does anyone have a name they think would be good?

We used to watch the show every season long ago, but haven't in many years. The teams didn't necessarily have names. It was two people, best friends, parent and kids, couple, that type of thing.

I like Ever-Read-Y, but will go with the majority.

Who wants to be team leader and looking at the example tasks we may want to get some things sorted before we start like these

- Each player reads a book in a series
- Each teammate reads a book published in the same month and year

- reads a different book by the same author
- Read 6 books with the same color cover

- Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth
- Read 6 books set on a beach or in the mountains
- Read a minimum of 1500 pages in books by the same author
- Read 6 books published in a teammates' birth month, you may not use your own month
- Read over 1000 pages in books that start with the same letter
- Read 6 books set in the same country outside the US
- As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list
- Read 6 books with a specific item on the cover
- Read a minimum of 1000 pages in books written by an author whose first or last name begins with the first letter of a teammate's screen name
- Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession
- Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC
- Read 6 books that have the same romance trope

Ok we have our task. Do we have an author that we would like to read? I'm good with being captain and with whatever team name. So if Ever-Read-Y fine by me ☺

I'm author good wih whatever author. I'll add my list of whic h author's I've read and maybe others can do the same?

Go? I thought we couldn't start reading until the 14th?

I think we can all tell our author preferences and if we get any similar ones we can agree on it?

Maybe if we list our top 5 or 10 authors and go from there as we'll need to match authors for other tasks and then go through some of the other coordinated tasks so we're not always behind ?

So I'm open to new authors and really don't have any particular preferences but in the past I've liked books by these authors:

J.T. Geissinger
But I'm open to any other author as well.

I've read and liked the first 6 on your list and am open to try new authors too as long as their books aren't really long just in case.

Since I'm likely the least likely to actually normally read romance I will go with what you decide on for author. I know odd since I'm in this group, I read it too participate in challenges over here like ptp which I've done a great deal of rounds of.

I have audible escape.

I think the only person listed so far I've read a book from is Zapata.

Agree :)

I read all romance authors and see many I've read on both of the list. So I'm good with any of them. Like Plethora I'm part of audible escape as well. Zapata and Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite author as well.

Everybody likes Mariana but her books are long, and maybe we should go with someone who writes a little average length ones AND something that we'd enjoy as well.

How about Jessica Gadziala? Her books are the shortest I believe. Althoug Whitney G too has them. And I've got loads of books written by them in my TBR. But we can do any other as well. My TBR pile is always going to be endless ;)
