Ann What books are you reading in this category? Where will you be browsing covers?

message 2: by Anna (new)

Anna Rebecca (annarebecca) Barnes and Noble is my go to!

message 3: by Kath (new)

Kath Lau (kath_reads) Even the Moon Has Scars by Steph Campbell. I ordered it already from Amazon :)

message 4: by Laura (new)

Laura I wasn't even book shopping today, but a cover really caught my eye in the dollar store, so I picked up The Seven Rays by Jessica Bendinger. I picked it solely by its cover, so I'm anxious to see how it is!

message 5: by Meryl (new)

Meryl Hebb | 13 comments I was at Target today and took pictures of all of the books I was interested in. Some I'd heard of and had reason for wanting to read, but some were strictly based on the cover.

message 6: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 65 comments These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman - a .99c Kindle book - really caught my eye with its beautiful cover.

message 7: by Julia (last edited Jun 21, 2015 03:56PM) (new)

Julia (_mj_howard) | 57 comments Again I changed my mind several times, but ended up reading "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford, and loved it so much, I put it forward for our next read at book club.

message 8: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (lynnali) I read The Clockwork Teddy: A Bear Collector's Mystery. I love teddy bears and thought this one would be a good choice.

message 9: by Guylian (new)

Guylian Just finished "Und Nietzsche weinte" (When Nietzsche Wept) by Irvin D. Yalom.

message 10: by Megan (new)

Megan (megabou) | 64 comments I think I'm going to find a book with a beach scene on the cover and read it at the beach this summer!

message 11: by Ryan (new)

Ryan (the-rybrary) I just finished Deathless and it was fantastic!

message 12: by Lara Ruark (new)

Lara Ruark I planned on going to a bookstore and just picking a book out. But I saw this cover and for some reason, I just HAD to read this book. And some of my friends read it, and said it was so good. I know nothing else. It's just text, but the way it's positioned...I dunno. Great job on the cover, cover person!

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

message 13: by Juanita (new)

Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments My book club is reading Mary Coin this month, which is a fictional story based on a historic and well known photo.

message 14: by Melanie (new)

Melanie I read Me & Emma for this prompt. The prompt on PopSugar says "A book based entirely on its cover". In the story Emma is a little girl with blond hair and blue eyes and that is what is on the cover.

message 15: by TheCarmanita (last edited Feb 28, 2015 07:53PM) (new)

TheCarmanita I was browsing the shelves for some authors who'd fulfill multiple prompts when I came across Helen Oyeyemi, and while looking for another book by her I found The Icarus Girl on the shelf. The cover features a young girl holding fluffy white wings by her side as she walks in front of a graffiti wall. I love the story of Icarus and went with this one. I wasn't too enthralled with it, but I did choose it just based on the cover. The Icarus Girl

message 16: by Catie (new)

Catie (gollywollypogs) | 13 comments I read this:
Death at Knytte by Jean Rowden
I had already bought it because I was attracted to the cover, though I didn't know the author and there were no reviews.
And it could have been worse: brainless but entertaining.

message 17: by Gabriella (new)

Gabriella A natural history of dragons by Marie brennan

Michelle {Book Hangovers} (bookhangoverz) Melanie wrote: "I read Me & Emma for this prompt. The prompt on PopSugar says "A book based entirely on its cover". In the story Emma is a little girl with blond hair and blue eyes and that is what is on the cover."

That's what I thought. The cover matching the story, pretty much.... Not sure what I'm going to read yet.

message 19: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I read Dating the Devil Dating the Devil by Lia Romeo by Lia Romeo. This was a Kindle Daily Deal.

The book was very engaging and a nice quick read.

message 20: by Belinda (new)

message 26: by Nikki (new)

message 27: by Tori (new)

Tori | 11 comments I read Breach by Nyong Atkins. First time author. Great book for only $.99!!

message 28: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Johnson (michellecurates) | 85 comments I went through my Kindle books (that I hoard, LOL) and found the cover I liked the most. It was Ghost Boy. VERY interesting true story. I hated the ending and where he chose to go with his life, but good books leave you thinking and talking, and this one did.

Ghost Boy The Miraculous Escape of a Misdiagnosed Boy Trapped Inside His Own Body by Martin Pistorius

message 29: by Christophe (new)

Christophe Bonnet For years I've been fascinated by the cover artwork for the Picador edition of Graham Swift's Waterland. This prompt was a good reason to read it! A fascinating book, too.

message 30: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments Ok so I took this 100% literally. I downloaded an ebook just based on the title and cover. All I knew was title, cover and author. I didn't check length or read anything about it before reading it. Turned out to be a novella which I read in a couple of hours and was ridiculous. Oh well, it wasn't bad. It was The Island by Jen Minkman

message 31: by Melody (last edited Nov 16, 2015 08:40AM) (new)

Melody | 208 comments For this prompt, I read Furiously Happy A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson . I saw the cover in a goodreads ad, tbh, and couldn't get it out of my head. Interestingly enough, the charming raccoon on her cover is an artistic rendering of her taxidermy raccoon. The original plan for the cover was to have just the bottom half of his face, so the reader would look as though they were manically smiling, which I think would've also been great.

The book itself I thought was just okay, but that is the risk you take when you pick something based solely on its cover.

message 32: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Picked up The woman who dived into the heart of the world from the library today. Didn't look at anything but the front cover. Thought the title sounded interesting. Also works for my author with your initials prompt. And I've just discovered it was originally written in Spanish! Woohoo! Three prompts in one.

message 33: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jcreamer) | 20 comments I read Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon It was gorgeous and perfect. I loved everything about it, including the cover.

message 34: by Kerryann (new)

Kerryann Franklin | 61 comments I've just finished Dark places by Gillan Flynn

message 35: by Brooke (new)

Brooke ♥booklife4life♥ (booklife4life) | 17 comments read These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1) by Amie Kaufman

message 36: by Alexis (new)

Alexis O (saboknits) | 76 comments I read The Monsters of Templeton by Lauren Groff (The Monsters of Templeton), by Lauren Groff. It was much better than a book read entirely for its cover should be. Willie Upton returns to her hometown heartbroken and directionless only to find out from her mother that Willie was lied to for her entire life. Her mother has kept the identity of Willie's father secret from her for 26 years. Willie begins a research project to find her father. I did have a very strong feeling about who Willie's father was from about halfway into the book and who his relatives would turn out to be. Despite that, the book had several interesting stories that were wrapped up nicely in the end without a load of hanging threads.
