What do you think of the structure of the book: the two timespans and how they slowly weave together as the tension in both stories ramps up? Did you look at the discussion questions at the end of the book? What did you think of them? Lastly, Louise de Bettignies, aka Lili, was a real person the author included in her book, and many of the instances were true to what had happened. How well do you think the author managed the transitions?
Hope everyone is staying safe.

I think the book was well written. The narratives going between characters and time periods really gave more depth to the story as a whole.

I think the discussion questions were relevant to the depth of the novel. I think that overall the book gave a great story of the dangerousness of this timer period and the strength needed to overcome these challenges.

Arlice M | 20 comments Even though I do not normally read historical fiction, I really enjoyed the book. I love how the book weaved between 1915 and 1947, alternating the stories between chapters. I think the discussion questions were helpful and brought deeper depth and understanding to the novel.

Rene | 5 comments I like this type of structure for novels. I usually look at the discussion questions, but did not for this book. I enjoyed reading the author notes, found them very interesting.
