Domitylle (can only update books rn. sorry) (dom_brlw) | 49 comments Yeah, I do... 😅
But sometimes, when I can't choose (when it's for school or as a present) I can be surprised in a good way if the book was good but the cover horrible!

Evelyn I definitely judge a book by it's cover before I buy or decide to read a book. I mean, if you see a book with a pretty cover and a book with a not so pretty cover, I'm obviously gonna be more drawn to the pretty book. Once I read a book though, and I liked the content, but the cover was ugly I don't care that it was ugly. Like for example, I don't really like the covers for the Legend Series, but the actual content is one of my favorite of all time so it doesn't matter to me in that case

Domitylle (can only update books rn. sorry) (dom_brlw) | 49 comments Totally! I'm kind of the same!

I do judge books by their cover, but if I read the summary and like it, I will definitely start that book, regardless of my feelings about the cover

Srujan (srujanreads) | 25 comments Never. I follow the idiom "Never judge a book by it's cover"

Mia So, I definitely judge books by their covers, but I have read some really awful ones that have beautiful covers and good blurbs.

I was literally about to type the same thing. YES on so many levels.

M (solembumber) I too love pretty covers and don't even pick up ugly ones. But Im a librarian and I have a class for school kids where we do a booktasting. They rate the cover, the blurb and first page. And almost always they vote the blurb and first page higher than the cover. But sometimes vice versa and thats a proof too. So mayyybe I should give uglier books a shot.... :D

message 17: by ava (new)

ava (alinascrown) i do, only because i don't like reading the synopsis because sometimes they spoil the book.

That!!!! I try to avoid blurbs too cause even the best blurb gives away at least first 50 pages or so. And last month I read a book (and for work had to read the blurb) and kept waiting and waiting for the thing to happen... and it happened 20 pages before the end. The thing that was brought out in the blurb. WHO DOES THAT!

message 19: by Martina (new)

Martina (maria_martina) I judge books by their covers unless they are horror books. I've noticed that nowadays most books have a minimal design and sometimes I can't tell if it's horror or not but just looking at the covers.
