The murder of the two deputies changed the scope and intensity of the arson investigations. Up until that point, law enforcement believed the fires were just nuisances. Did you think they were both connected at the time?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I wasn't sure; part of me certainly thought that more than one arsonist in a community would be beyond chance.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments The arsons confused me. Arsonists tend to escalate, but I didn't know what direction it was going to take. When the deputies were killed, I thought that was an unexpected escalation, however Cade's friends came to mind.

I was also confused, rightly so as it turned out. The murders didn’t make sense as it looked like the fire was set to lure them in, not the case with the others. I had to let it go and just follow the investigation without opinion.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I'm with you guys. I was confused about this fire. I wondered if it was the same group causing the barn fire. It felt like they had lured the cops out there to kill them.

I was just as confused as you all were. I didn't see the connection to the deputies deaths and the arsons. The arsons, especially when the laughter was brought up several times, smacked of juveniles. There was a red herring with Cade's friends bragging about being crack shots but the arsons still just smacked of kids.
