Two of McDonald’s minions waged a verbal and physical assault on Rose. Do you think others in the general community may share similar feelings about her now that’s she’s pregnant?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments Self-righteous people can usually find some way to justify their outbursts.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I think Rose is too well loved by the community. The men who assaulted her aren't self-righteous, in my opinion, the are degenerates. That is obvious from the way they treat the women at the McDonald's ranch.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9285 comments Mod
Yeah, I’d put them in the degenerate and misogynist categories. That’s what (not who) McDonald was attracting to his new community. Women beware.

I don’t think the general community shares their sick point of view. But there are some who will but keep quiet.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I hope the rest of the community wouldn't put up with that behavior, but I did notice that no one came to Rose's rescue on the street. It makes me wonder if it was just a very slow day on main street or if people just ignored the behavior.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I don't think those guys would do anything in front of witnesses.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9285 comments Mod
Yeah, I would agree. Bullies like to do stuff only amongst those they want to intimidate or impress. That wouldn’t be the community at large.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I still maintain that there was an element of self righteousness in that group, just not the stereotypical one....
They thought they were superior, no insider would admit to being
degenerate or other negative terms, imho.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9285 comments Mod
They certainly felt entitled and disenfranchised.

They certainly see women as inferior & have no respect for motherhood. Rose is loved in the community, but...I think there could be others who will see her as the unwed mother of a rapist's child. Especially men. I don't; however, think many will be forward enough to confront her in this manner. These men are cowards.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Definitely that group of men were cavemen! But a fair proportion of the town are in these nearly cultish groups with very outdated ideas about gender roles. So probably some of them would have these opinions about Rose but maybe Mercy's father and his position of respect in the town would keep these under control.

I think there will always be bullies even in small towns. I am glad they proved not to be from the town though. I think Tom would have probably dealt with those guys for bringing attention to themselves as Joseph did. For going outside orders. Plus after finding out who Tom really was he might have retaliated for hurting his niece.
