Yeah, I’d put them in the degenerate and misogynist categories. That’s what (not who) McDonald was attracting to his new community. Women beware.

Yeah, I would agree. Bullies like to do stuff only amongst those they want to intimidate or impress. That wouldn’t be the community at large.

They thought they were superior, no insider would admit to being
degenerate or other negative terms, imho.
They certainly see women as inferior & have no respect for motherhood. Rose is loved in the community, but...I think there could be others who will see her as the unwed mother of a rapist's child. Especially men. I don't; however, think many will be forward enough to confront her in this manner. These men are cowards.


I think there will always be bullies even in small towns. I am glad they proved not to be from the town though. I think Tom would have probably dealt with those guys for bringing attention to themselves as Joseph did. For going outside orders. Plus after finding out who Tom really was he might have retaliated for hurting his niece.
