Welcome to our All-ATY Read-A-Thon! If you need a reminder of the rules (or if you have a question), check out our Introduction and FAQs thread.

We will have five genres of books, and shelf tags that go along with each genre (plus a few freebies, for those of us finishing up monthly challenges). Our goal, as a group, is to cross off as many of these shelf tags as possible by the end of the day next Sunday (April 26th).

For this thread, we have NONFICTION

THE TAGS

1. nonfiction - Joan: The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis
2. memoir - Traci: The Distance Between Us: Young Readers Edition by Reyna Grande
3. humor - Robin: A Quiet Life In The Country by T E Kinsey
4. science - Emily: The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White
5. psychology - Jen: Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily Nagoski
6. travel - Jen: Rough Magic: Riding the World's Loneliest Horse Race by Lara Prior-Palmer
7. spirituality - Suzanne: Shameless: A Sexual Reformation by Nadia Bolz-Weber
8. education - Sherri: The First Mrs. Rothschild by Sara Aharoni
9. biography
10. philosophy - Hannah: The Road by Cormac McCarthy
11. health
12. physcial-tbr - Bec: Cilka's Journey by Heather Morris
13. print
14. priority - Roxana: Who Speaks for the Damned by C.S. Harris
15. 2015 - Rachel: Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin

As you complete your books, post them here with the title and author, which tag you are choosing to complete (please only choose one), and a brief note about your book (so we can all get recommendations!).

No, you do not have to read a book in each genre for it to count! It only has to have the tag on the book. (For example, you can read any book tagged 2015 to complete that tag... it doesn't have to be nonfiction.)

If you need help finding books, Goodreads has an easy way to see the most popular books on each shelf. Just head to www.goodreads.com/shelf and search for the shelf you're looking for.

Jen K | 572 comments I finished Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily Nagoski and Amelia Nagoski. It fits #5 psychology.

It was an interesting book about dealing with stress and finding joy. It was fun as an audiobook.

Yes, I think most women and especially those who want to/ try to help everyone should read (human giving syndrome). I may need to get the tree version to fully process and try it out though.

message 5: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1272 comments I finished The Distance Between Us: Young Readers Edition. It can be for the memoir tag.

I finished The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein in TWO DAYS. Such a quick, captivating read. I put it under science, even though it's not nonfiction.

I have been looking in every thread for a place to put A Quiet Life In The Country. It isn’t nonfiction but it does have the tag Humor #3

Got it, Jen!

message 13: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 773 comments Just finished Who Speaks for the Damned, which has been shelved as priority-list, if that counts for "priority"? (I think that's the only tag we have left that this book has been shelved for, if I'm not missing any :))

message 14: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1337 comments I read Cilka's Journey which has been tagged physical-tbr by 11 people.
I previously put it down for library but it seems to have been missed so i've found another tag it fits.

message 15: by Hannah (last edited Apr 26, 2020 03:32AM) (new)

Hannah | 384 comments I finished The Road - tagged as Philosophy.

I’ve had this on my tbr for a few years. It’s not the type of book I normally read, but I enjoyed it more than I expected.
