If I'm weird about sticking to the one genre I read, is there ever gonna be a set of tasks that I'd absolutely have to break genre? (hopefully not) Just wanted to hang on the sidelines for a bit and see what types of tasks the others get if that's ok? :)

This challenge is very similar to the "Lost in Space" challenge. There will be 5 tasks to choose from for each mystery, with the 5th task always being 'read a book with 'Mystery' on the book's main page' instead of a Science Fiction book that the "Lost in Space" challenge had.

I just looked through the tasks I've written. Only 3 of the 41 mysteries has a task that has a specific genre request. And that task was 1 of 5 tasks to choose from.

Do we need to pick a season and then do all the tasks within it or can we pick a task from season 2 and then one from season 3 and so on?

You do not need to pick a mystery in any order. Some folk are going about it in an orderly fashion. A few have chosen randomly. It's completely up to you.

Does the timing on starting a book count? For example I started the book yesterday, but didn't post for my new tasks (that it ended up working for) until today? I finished the book after the tasks were posted.

One of the tasks for my current episode is "a book not set on earth". Does a magical world setting count and does the whole book have to be set elsewhere or can part of it be set on earth? I'm reading The Magician's Nephew and wondering if it will work since half of the book takes place in Narnia and other magical lands.

If a genre is selected but it's not MPG, as long as people have tagged it as that type of book, would that be enough?

I've quickly scanned through the tasks. The only genre that needs to be on the main page is 'Mystery'. All the other genres just need to be tagged as that type of book.

Yes, you can change the tense of the word.

For the task 2. a book where the main character spends the night at a hotel, motel or inn, does it count if the MC is the night clerk of a motel? She technically spends the entire night at a motel?

I was wondering if a multi genre MPG with 'Mystery' in it works - the book I started in the morning Carter has in the last line: 'Thriller > Mystery Thriller' and I wanted to double-check with you before I assume anything.

I usually leave registration open for about 6 months on challenges like this one. I have another challenge ready to go. It's based on dinosaurs and historical fiction and non-fiction. I will probably post it within the next 2 or 3 months.
