The poll is in and the selection for our next intimidating reads group read is The House of the Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne This book is a shorter book and readers should be able to finish it in two months which are May and June.

You can download an ebook in various formats from Project Gutenberg at https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/77.

You can also download an audiobook of this from Librivox at https://librivox.org/the-house-of-the....

JenniferFour | 61 comments Sounds good. I just got it through Serial Reader. It’s an app that delivers about 15 minutes of reading to you a day. I have only used it once before (for a short book). This is my experiment to see if I like it for a longer book.

Isn't this by Poe?

Also, whoo Christopher Lee! Same guy from Lord of the Rings, right?

Aw, man!!! That's embarrassing. Yes, it's Poe. Does this mean I should turn in my PDR Moderator Card :(

Yep. He did an awesome job narrating the video!

Library Queen | 90 comments Noooo... you're fine. I just have a weirdly good memory for stuff like that. That just means it's gonna be creepier than if it was written by Hawthorne.

Stacy | 43 comments I will be starting this book as soon as I finish the one I am currently reading.

Stacy | 43 comments I finished it-- and out of curiosity, (once I had finished the book), I watched the 1940 movie with Vincent Price, though the movie departed from the book greatly.

I just finished this book. It was slow at the start, but got better the farther I got into it. I figured out Holgrave's secret at around two-thirds of the way into the book.
