Now that the readathon is coming to an end, I thought it might be nice to create a thread about how we all did!

I read 13 books off of my physical TBR, which I am pretty happy with - especially as some of them were very long! :)

Melissa (melissafulton) | 10 comments I planned to read 4 and read all 4. Not a lot, but I'm happy to finally have ticked these of my list! this is definitely an exercise I'll be repeating

Keeley (abibliophilesjourney) | 4 comments I didn't do badly at all! I planned to read 12. I DNF'd one and finished 9 others. The final 2 I will get to in May. Thank you so much for hosting this readathon!!! It was really fun :)

Lana | 9 comments I finished six physical books, one of which was 'War and Peace' by Tolstoy. That's why I consider this readathon a huge success for me. Thanks for hosting this, Katie!

Helen | 8 comments I read 5/6 books that I set for this readathon which I'm happy about, the one that I didn't read I plan on getting to soon. As well as several newer books that I've only had since Christmas. I plan on keeping this going throughout the year and just keep plugging away at my tbr. Thanks Katie for hosting this readathon it's been a lot of fun!!

H I read all three of the books I planned to read, in the pace I planned to read them it. I am very happy abut it! Thank you for this readathon, Katie. I look forward to joining more future readathons :)

Oumaima . (oumaimamekni) | 1 comments i managed to read three physical books that have been sitting on my shelves for God knows how long. One of them is a thriller I remember buying back in 2016 but never got around to read. Another book is a play by a Shakespeare that I had to read for school but I've been procrastinating so much lately, but i finally picked it and read it.

M (masanobu) I did better than I expected, although I should have tried harder to read books from my physical TBR.

I finished 7 books in April, but only 5 actually count for the readathon: 3 audiobooks, 1 book from my digital TBR and 1 from my physical TBR. Of those, two of the audiobooks had been sat on my TBR the longest (from 2015 and 2013 respectively!). The rest were more recent additions, but they had been on my TBR for a year.

The challenge has made me realise two things:
- My TBRs on GR are not very well updated and need to be culled.
- I postpone reading books that I'm not that excited about, so I should think more about what I add to my TBR and why. My average rating for the readathon reads is only 2.6! At least this encouraged me to get them out of the way.

Margaret Grant (margaretgrantnovelistcom) | 5 comments I read 6 books this month. I put 9 books on my original TBR list for this challenge. I read 4 from that list. I was in quarantine at the start of the month, so I chose books that were in my bedroom and on my Kindle. When I finished quarantine, I spotted other books around the house that were more appealing to me, so I went off list and read those instead.

I enjoyed my reading. All the books were worthwhile. The standout one was 'A Strangeness in my Mind,' by Orhan Pamuck. That was an absolute joy.

Vicky D (readingwithmrsd) I managed 4, which is less than I thought but steps in the right direction. My focus for the whole year actually is to work on reading books I already own rather than buying lots of new books. So I’ll be continuing beyond this readathon. Was good to know others were doing the same so thanks for the readathon. And well done everybody.

War and Peace – that is a feat in itself. Well done!

Iza Brekilien (izabrekilien) | 9 comments I read 15 books, including the big Lord of the rings that had remained on my shelves for years due to its size, and DNFed 7 others. I made some room on my shelves and I'm quite happy with that !
In fact, I'm so happy with with the clearout readathon that I made a TBR jar with the titles of all the unread books that remain on my shelves and am planning to read some regularly. I really really like the TBR jar idea :)

War and Peace ..."

Thanks, Margaret! I actually started War and Peace in February, but I read most of it in April.

message 14: by Henk (new)

Henk I did rather paltry, from the 10 books read in April only 5 I had on my shelfs for a longer time already.

Jill (jillglove) | 1 comments I wanted to make a dent in my large stack of hardbacks from Book of the Month subscription. I read four so I’m pretty pleased.

Thanks for the incentive Kate!
