Nicole Bleau | 16 comments Hi all! As the City of Denver approaches the reopening of businesses, it is likely that the Forney will open by the end of May. We wanted to check in with everyone to see how you are doing. Have you read anything new lately? We hope everyone is healthy and well.

This book club is casual and informal, and really just a nice opportunity to stay in touch with other transportation enthusiasts and book readers, and of course, to socialize and meet up once a month. If you don't read an entire book by the end of each month, that is ok! And you can still participate.

The schedule for our onsite meetings will be posted as soon as we have a definite answer about the Museum's reopening date. Depending on what's open by then, and everyone's comfortability meeting in person, the onsite meetings will likely be at the Museum for a little while, where we have adequate space.

In the meantime, the first book we will be reading is Long Way Round, by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman.

Has anyone already read this?

If anyone is having trouble finding the book or accessing it, please let me know.

And lastly, please feel free share your thoughts about the Museum reopening in late May. Do you feel this is too soon? And let us know when you would feel most comfortable meeting in person as a group. Your input makes our decisions much easier. Thanks so much!

Nicole Bleau | 16 comments Another idea is to have a virtual Zoom meeting to discuss and finally meet eachother!

Pshighcountry | 1 comments Hey there armchair leadfoot automobilists,
I have read and enjoyed "The Long Way Round," and the TV series, as well as it's follow up - The Long Way Down. Having owned a 400cc dirt bike (in between 2 Minis) I could identify.
Just finished 2 books I would recommend to the group; "Faster" by Neil Bascomb, and "How To Build A Car" by Adrian Newey. Both were eBooks.
I would definitely join a Zoom meeting should one be organized.
Peter

Nicole Bleau | 16 comments Hi Peter! Great to hear from you, and thank you for these recommendations, I added them to our bookshelf.

After discussing with a few members and staff of the Forney, I am going to set up a Zoom meeting for our first club meet. We will likely continue with Zoom options throughout the year so that we can stay in touch with our non-local members. We will also continue our conversations through Goodreads discussions.

For our first meet, I am open to suggestions on dates and times that work best for all of you.

What days/times work for you?

Ben Greene | 3 comments Just ordered out the book. Hope to get it in a few days. Are you planning the Zoom meeting anytime soon? I would like to read the book first.

Nicole Bleau | 16 comments Hi Ben, good to hear you got the book. We can have the first meeting a few weeks to a month out so that everyone can access and read the book. I was thinking of having it on a Saturday, if that is convenient for all.

Nicole Bleau | 16 comments Hi Nancy,

I'm so sorry that my email didn't work! Thank you for letting me know, I will need to look into that. I will be sending an invite to your email shortly.

Nicole Bleau | 16 comments It appears that I misspelled museum.org in the event description. It has been corrected. So sorry about that!
