Review:
Last year, I was introduced to Gaiman for the first time and read American Gods, which I totally loved. Loving that book made me buy most of Gaiman's book, of which this was one.
As usual Gaiman did not disappoint me with this book. In fact, I could say he surpassed his previous best(at least according to me) with this tale. Loved it for its story, for its poignancy that is both touching and teaching, loved the magical aspect of the story and very soon I found myself being swept away along with the little boy in his adventures!

I agree that American Gods is not a book for everyone. I quite liked the whole weirdness of it and it kept me riveted till the very end. Not many have loved it though! Lol!

This was the first book I added to my TBR when I first joined GR last year and I am happy to say that I finally got to reading it! It really feels good to read see that there is a different number one on your list! Lol!
As for the book, I really loved it, especially Kay Scarpetta. The book was different from most mystery or thriller books, in that it gave more information about the period that it talked about and also about the various forensic techniques that were used in that time period. This made the book more interesting and of course a little frustrating as well.
Interesting because it gave a little bit of history and I quite like that. And frustrating because, I am glad that I am not a woman in that period - the whole concept of male dominated world was truly emphasised in this world and had me gagging and getting angry, alternatively!
The murder mystery was good and I had no clue who the murderer was till the end, which I believe is the mark of a good mystery story. It kept me guessing all the time and all my guesses were wrong. The only grouse that I had with this book was that it slowed down in pace, some where in the middle and made it difficult to move on. Had I not been reading this one for a challenge, I might have just stopped reading it at that time. Nevertheless, it does pick up and you are in for a treat, especially at the end.
Looking forward to reading more in this series..and I am glad to have toppled that numero uno in my list! Yay!
Note: This book is not being counted for this challenge because it isn't an owned book. Just wanted to put it here because I finally finished my 1st book ever added. That's the sole purpose! :)
