Cheryl S. | 161 comments All of a sudden several projects I have worked on for some time are ready to be quilted. "Among the Pines" is a 12 block embroidered project I have worked on since last spring. "My Favorite Things" is a wool applique wall hanging and I also did a small table runner called "Midnight Stars" to use on the table by my back door. I got them all backed and batted today and am excited to get going with machine quilting.

Now that the holidays are over it's time to get serious about some quilting projects. My granddaughter is a senior this year and I'm in the process of deciding what kind of quilt to make her for graduation. She is a very outdoor type of girl who loves winter sports, hunting, fishing etc, and someday hopes to work for the DNR. There seems to be a theme I can work around.

My next embroidery project I'm excited about is a wall hanging for my sewing room. It's entitled "Quilted Memories" and features 8 embroidered blocks, each a scene including a quilt. What could be more perfect for my sewing room? I finally broke down and ordered a light box for tracing the patterns. Since I discovered how much I enjoy working on these embroidery projects and how hard it is to trace patterns taped to a window I decided it was worth it to buy one. I've wanted one for years and know I will get plenty of use out of it. Can't wait till it gets here so I can get started on this project.

Tanya #TeacherReader | 90 comments My dad made me a light box several years ago and it is much easier than tracing on the window. Good luck with all your embroidery/quilting projects!

Karen Lowe | 66 comments I find the light box very useful too.
Exciting to plan quilt projects for the coming year. I'm aiming to do a single bed size for our new little grandson.

Thanks! The "box" arrived yesterday and I have traced a pattern without shoulder pain for the first time in years. What a treat!!
