Short Story Contest Summer 2020

i've gone through a few of the previous years' contests to get a better idea of how this works (some very nice stories, by the way) and i know that you have to rate everyone's works in order for your ratings to count. does that include your own? i feel like this has been mentioned somewhere, but i can't find where.
Yes if you wish to rate then you must rate all stories including yours. Because stories are posted anonymous. Then while compiling results own vote to the story is dealt accordingly.

Damn, I'm surprised you wrote my favourite story from the contest. I mean, I could tell it was written by a female but you? Hmmmm

Aesthetics and empathy are not gender specific. :) Anyone can have eyes to see and heart to feel.
@Muhammad Ozair
Thank you brother! :)

Aesthetics and empathy are not gender specific. :) Anyone can have eyes to see and heart to feel.
The form in which you express them are indeed gender-specific. Several researches have been done on the matter. Unfortunately I've lost all my bookmarks, I had quite a few research papers documenting the different dimensions in which gender-based differences arise in language usage, although it shouldn't be too hard to google it.

First of all, sorry for the late reply as I was on a self-prohibited social media break.
Frankly speaking, I am not much aware of writing techniques. The point of view of the story is the third person, yet indeed the main character of the story is female; however, the feelings are humanistic and not gender-specific in my opinion.
I will be pleased to go through the researches you have mentioned if you could find your bookmarks or any other references.
