10.1 Pick a Card, Any Card

Read a book using any one card from last season's Blackjack. You may read for this task three times, but you must use the same card each time.

10.2 Author Name

Read any book by an author with a name that is 6, 7, or 8 letters in length (can be first, last, middle or entire name).

10.3 One at a Time, Please

Read a book by an author whose surname is only one syllable. Examples: H.G. Wells, Julian Barnes, Rebecca West.

10.4 P.D. James

British mystery writer and Conservative life peer in the House of Lords P[hyllis] D[orothy] James (August 3, 1920) (P.D. James) Read a book with an MPG of Mystery OR Crime. Main Page Genre can be locked in at any time.

10.5 Suffragettes

Though they didn't live to see it happen, Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906) and Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815-1902) worked long and hard for women's suffrage in the US. Read any book written by an author born during their lifetimes - 1815-1906.

10.6 Postal

Read a book by an author whose initials in any order can be either the two-letter postal abbreviation for a U.S. State/Territory or Canadian Province. Examples: O. Henry=OH (Ohio); Ayelet Waldman=WA (Washington); Carol Rifka Blunt=BC (British Columbia); Anna Katherine Green=AK (Alaska). All initials can be used. Note: both "NB" and "NE" will be accepted for Nebraska.

10.7 Ed's Task

Read a book with a title OR sub-title that begins OR ends with either the letters “E” or “D”. Articles (The, A, An) may be ignored.

10.8 The Big 4-0? (Tien's Task)

Read a book first published in year with 4 AND 0 (eg. 1940, 2004, etc).

10.9 Hug a Tree (Valerie's Task)

It was such a pleasure to be able to go for a walk in the spring woods after 10+ weeks of 'shelter in place'. In honor of that: read a book that has tree(s), wood(s) or forest(s) in the title. Also acceptable - common names (eg. Pine), compound words (eg. hollywood), and plurals. (One word from the common name thread will be acceptable if two or more word term is listed).

10.10 Group Reads

Read one of the listed titles recommended by RwS Members of books they read in the Spring season. You may also choose one of the books recommended in the Summer 2017,
Summer 2018, or Summer 2019 seasons.

20.1 Africa

Read a book set at least 75% in an African country. OR read a book by an author born in an African country.

20.2 Asia

Read a book by an author born in OR a book set at least 75% in one of these Asian countries: China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea (North or South), Malaysia, Korea (North or South), Thailand, Vietnam.

20.3 Middle East

Read a book written by an author born in OR set at least 75% in one of these Middle Eastern countries.

20.4 France

Read a book written by an author born in France or a book set at least 75% in France.

20.5 Russia

Read a book set at least 75% in Russia OR a book written by an author born in Russia.

20.6 Latin America

Read a book set at least 75% OR written by an author born in one of these Latin American Countries.

20.7 Canada

Read a book written by an author born in OR a book set at least 75% in Canada.

20.8 Beatrix Potter (Bryony's Task)

Among all the challenges of the lockdown this spring, some of my happiest moments have been reading Beatrix Potter’s tales with my family.

Inspired by The Tales of Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, Jemima Puddle-Duck and more, read a novel which has a main character’s name or nickname in the title. First, last or full name are okay, and the name may be the whole title or part of it. (examples: Olive Kitteridge, Jane Eyre, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine and The Brothers Karamazov).

20.9 Birthday (Kate's Task)

I will be celebrating the 15th anniversary of my 25th birthday this season. In honor of this, read a book with either a 1 and a 5 or a 2 and a 5 in the page count of the MPE.

20.10 Over/Under (Elizabeth (Alaska)'s Task)

Read any book with an average rating over 3.74 AND under 1001 ratings. (3.75/1000)

30.1 Go for the Green

Let's turn some countries green! Read a book set at least 51% in any of the countries on the Group Project Spreadsheet that are not yet colored green. See the Help thread for (user friendly?) list. This task has a special 30 point bonus for books that are on the Countries Still to Go list (white on the spreadsheet).

This is not a first to post task - no changes will be made to the spreadsheet until after the season is over.
