Missy | 1477 comments Hi, Joanna, I think there is a typo in the second thread.

I believe you meant: "Authors not eligible for August 2020 Group read"

Missy | 1477 comments I nominate Why Lords Lose Their Hearts (Wicked Widows, #3) by Manda Collins Why Lords Lose Their Hearts by Manda Collins and Lord of a Thousand Nights (Medieval #6) by Madeline Hunter Lord of a Thousand Nights by Madeline Hunter.

I added a few books and new-to-me authors from the lists to my TBR.

Jan (jan130) | 2666 comments My two noms:
Silk Is for Seduction by Loretta Chase. I've really enjoyed some of Ms Chase's books before, but somehow have never tried this series. This one has been on my tbr for a while. I'm assuming it has a widow or widower because it's on one of the lists.
Silk Is for Seduction (The Dressmakers, #1) by Loretta Chase

A Soft Kiss In Winter by Lily Graison. Set in Montana Territory in the 1880s.
A book and author I've never heard of before spotting it on one of the lists, but it has a high rating and lots of good reviews so I'm prepared to try it. I'd like to challenge myself with a BOTM I haven't read before.
A Soft Kiss In Winter (Silver Falls Book 1) by Lily Graison

NOT a nom, but a 'widow' book I really liked is Lisa Kleypas' Devil's Daughter, but it's not one of my noms for the above-mentioned reason. But if anyone is looking to read more books with this trope, this is a good one. The widow part is handled sensitively and well in this book IMO.
Devil's Daughter (The Ravenels, #5) by Lisa Kleypas

Another one that I can't nom but it's also a lovely widow read is Mary Balogh's beautiful book Slightly Dangerous. A must-read HR for those who haven't read it.
Slightly Dangerous (Bedwyn Saga, #6) by Mary Balogh

These are two of my favorites in the series. It would be hard to choose in my opinion.

I nominate To Taste Temptation by Elizabeth Hoyt. This was my first Hoyt and holds a special place for me because of it. I also think it’s very good with an interesting historical background with some HOT love scenes. Not quite as dark as the Maiden Lane series. It is the first in the series. The heroine is a widow.

I will go ahead and nominate a second book: A Tale of Two Lovers by Maya Rodale. The heroine is a widow. This is also an enemies-to-lovers and marriage of convenience. It’s a lot of fun, which is what I expect with Rodale. It is the second in the series.

Jultri | 409 comments Romancing the Countess by Ashley March- This is an emotionally complex story about two people's separate paths towards healing following the betrayals by their now deceased spouses with one another. While Leah embraced life and her new independence with great gusto, Sebastian was consumed by anger and hurt and his pain remained fresh. Yet in spite of their different ways of dealing with their shared secret heartbreak, they found themselves irresistibly drawn towards each other. This could have been written by Sherry Thomas - such is the emotional intensity and depth of the characters and the story.

Till Next We Meet by Karen Ranney - A beautifully written and very moving story with an epistolary component

Jan (jan130) | 2666 comments I'm intrigued by lots of these - many I've never come across. I may not even end up voting for my own nominations LOL.

YES! These are both great. Lady Derring is super strong JAL work! All the secondary characters are hilarious.

I second the motion for When He Was Wicked! This book has tons of angst and guilt and heat!!
