2015 book challenge talk

I read 20 last year and bumped my challenge to 25 this year. So far though I have only read one book, but I am close to finishing another.
I do it to keep me reading and on track. I think that it helps me to remember to read and not watch tv a lot of times.
I never set out to read a certain book, I just read what takes my fancy at that moment. My 'to read' list is over 400 books, so it is not like I have nothing to pick from!

But surely planning on continuing reading through the rest of the year, but at a slower pace, so im glad i got that kickstart here in january hehe. Hoping for atleast 52 books at the end of the year.
Had a bunch of books standing around that i just never got around to read, which ive now gone through a bunch of. Also bought a few new books. I am trying to read from authors from as many countries as possible, so trying to spread it out a bit, i.e. i dont have a list far ahead, but just read what i feel like at the moment.
Reading for the enjoyment, re-found the childhood joy of reading, and as an alternative way of relaxing.

More importantly, I'm hoping to read around half of the books in A Wheel of Time series, which might make my goal of 50 books a bit more difficult.
The Wheel of Time books are really good. I read about nine of them a long time ago. Unfortunately this means I no longer remember the last one I read, so don't know where to start up again!
I managed to reach my challenge of 52 books last year and this year I'm going for the same number. I had way more free time last year but what happened is that I blew it out of the water during the first couple of months and slowed down on the last few months, having read only 4 books from October to December. This year I plan on having a more steady pace, especially since I won't have any type of vacation. If I can find time to read a little bit every day, I should accomplish it without too much of an issue.
I have set my goal at a modest 12. I hope to reach that and then reset my goal to a higher number.
Who participated in the 2014 challenge? Who won their challenge?
what books are you hoping to conquer this year for the challenge? Who has their list mapped out with the books?
what intrigues me the most about the book challenge is why do we do it?
