I rather enjoyed this. Dark story, complicated people who were working their own agendas. 4 stars

I read this book a few years ago and gave it 5 stars. I couldn’t put the book down and I found it to be be very atmospheric.

I was really pulled into this story and greatly enjoyed it. But I just read her latest book The Pull of the Stars and it was just barely a 3 star read for me.

Enjoyed this one and the ending was quite surprising !

Once I got about 3/4 through, this book was hard to put down. What an unusual storyline and how surprising to find out it was based on real "Fasting Girls"

SPOILER ALERT:
I was so angry at this family all the way through! Then when Anna's secret about her brother is revealed and to find out her mother and priest already knew and their reactions to this! Donoghue successfully pulled some emotion out of me with this book! :)
