Kylee (kyleeraereader) Spoilers are okay but make sure they are within the chapters listed :)

Christina Pilkington I'm getting a head start on this book because we're leaving for Costa Rica next week and I don't know how much I'll be able to comment then.

I'll be honest. I read the Legend trilogy and didn't really like it. That's probably going to make me pretty unpopular here! The first book was fine, but I struggled to get through the second and almost didn't finish reading Champion. I think my problem was they were too romance heavy for me. I really don't like a lot of romance in my books. I thought there was so much potential to explore the dystopian world and politics in the Legend trilogy and Marie Lu failed for me in those areas.

So I was very skeptical of reading The Young Elites. Since it was going to be a fantasy- my favorite genre- I pre ordered it. But I still just let it sit on my bookshelf until now.

I'm very happy to say that so far I'm sighing with relief. I REALLY like this book so far! No angsty romance so far, a unique character and a really good premise and beginning to the plot. I hope it stays this good!

I've been so busy lately with exams, but I actually had time to read today and I'm loving The Young Elites so far! From the very beginning it already started to remind me of Shatter Me and Throne of Glass (in a good way because those are two of my favourites). I'm really enjoying the fact that this is fantasy, rather than sci-fi or dystopian and that Adelina isn't this perfect looking protagonist. She has flaws (as do all humans) with a missing eye and hair that is unnaturally pale/silver. I'm already intrigued with the story and I'm very curious about her "ability".
