If you are willing to place one of your July reading choices in the hands of another person, leave a comment here with at least five books and no more than ten from your TBR shelf. Participants need to leave comments no later than June 25th.

Here's how it will work:
Sophia will match people up and leave a comment with a list of who will choose for whom.
When you see the person you are to pick for, then just look at their list in the above comments and leave a new comment with their name and the book you chose for them by June 30th.

You also need to watch and see what book your person chose from your list for you.
You have the rest of the month to read the book.

So if this sounds like something you would like to do, just comment below leaving your name and list of book choices for someone to pick your July book.

Lois Lane Patricia,
That’s good yo know! It’s been sitting on my bookshelf awhile, and I just haven’t gotten to it. I love mysteries (Stephanie Barron’s series is a favorite of mine), so I really need to get this one down off the shelf!

Momtoten /Cherith Boardman | 80 comments I'm in. I still need to read June's selection, but I still have a week. I'll get it done. (I"ve been writing like crazy.)

Sorry so sorry, everyone! I completely forgot to draw the names and post for the challenge. This month went by so fast for me. Again, apologies.

I'm going to give us until July 2nd to post up our picks for one another just in case you need more time.

Here's a reminder of how it works. In the list below, find your name on the left and the name on the right is the name you drew. Then go back up into the comments and find their list, pick a book for them, and leave a new comment below by July 2nd.

Momtoten > Abigail
Lois > Elin
Patricia > Kirk
Abigail > Sophia
Elin > Momtoten
Kirk > Lois
Sophia > Patricia

Remember to check what book was chosen for you.
We have the rest of the month to get our books read. Feel free to drop a note back here of what you thought of your chosen book.

Enjoy your books, all!

Howdy, Patricia!

I thought the first two were light and fun so I'm picking the third Rachel John, Persuading the Captain, for you. Hope its a fun one!

there was 2 that caught my eye, but my gut is saying georgiana pride and prejudice continued book 3.

I hope you enjoy it!

message 16: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Honored to pick for you, Sophia! I don't want to cause any triggering so I'll choose Fortune and Felicity for you, principally because, like Meg Ryan, I like the word felicity.

Sophia (sophiarose) | 698 comments Mod
I adore the word 'felicity' and I use it when I close my messages. :)

Sounds like a good pick, Abigail. :)

Good morrow, Abigail. Thank you for the cheers re: my writing. (37,500 words in the past two weeks! Woo Hoo!)
The only one on your list I've read is 'Being Mrs Darcy' by Lucy Marin.
HOWEVER, you have two which are in my TBR pile, therefore I respectfully request a pre-read review of 'Unmarriageable' by Soniah Kamal.

Godspeed reading in July!
momtoten

message 21: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) That's an astounding word count!! You go!

Thanks for proposing that I read Unmarriageable. Happy to do so, particularly because my Jane Austen reading group has just decided to do a comparative reading of two Austenesques with Islamic cultural themes. Much appreciated!

Elin Eriksen (vaarin) | 236 comments Dear Momtoten, I am not certain it is within my means chose wisely... So I'll go with my gut feeling and that is to choose the one I liked best since I have read your selection. My favourite among them was: Find wonder in all things by Karen M Kox. A lovely, heart-warming and engaging Persuasion variation, enjoy!

I really enjoyed my pick, Elin. Thank you for suggesting it. I think Persuasion might be the easiest to modernise, and I really liked the interesting twist of the Elliot family in this one. (Not only high society is closed and insular!)

Thanks!

message 25: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Interesting idea about it being easier to adapt Persuasion than the other novels! I can see it--it's the most modern in its ideas about class, and about equality within a marriage.

Driving Miss Darcy
Driving Miss Darcy Pemberley For Christmas (Backstage Romance #3) by Gigi Blume
Twas cotton candy sweet. I look forward to rereading it over the holidays. It was perfect after reading the multiple Caroline Bingley filled Crazy Rich Asians.

Elin Eriksen (vaarin) | 236 comments Courtships & Corruption: A Pride and Prejudice Variation, humourously bent murder mystery, keeping the timeline of canon. I enjoyed it and gave it 4* https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Finished my selection, Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal. I admit it was a disappointment to me, though I appreciated the opportunity to read a story set in Pakistan. Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Abigail, you picked a winner. I was full of felicity when I finished. It was a lovely, bittersweet governess romance and fit my reading mood perfectly. :)

I've read and enjoyed Jane Fairfax twice and greatly enjoyed Ayesha at Last last year. I recommend both but if you have access to Jane Fairfax I would go with that one as Ayesha will be readily available for the immediate future. Strictly on merit alone? Ayesha!
