The beginning of this book is definitely intriguing so far. I like where the story is going, but I don't think it's a smart idea to go ahead with the Summit when there are an unknown number of Solarians wandering around. Something bad is definitely going to happen! (hide spoiler)]

I am not really sure about what I think of Maddie. She was a bit overemotional the night the Solarian got through, but she seemed to improved a little bit afterwards. I understand that her character is overwhelmed right now, however, I am just not finding her very interesting. (hide spoiler)]

Are you liking it so far? Not sure if I can dive into it today or not but I'm super excited for it!

I'm hoping to read this tomorrow!

I am over halfway done, and it is only so-so. There was one big thing that happened near the start, but now the story has plateaued a bit. Let me know what you think!

It was pretty foreseeable that Maddie was the one to almost immediately find the Solarian while hunting in the forest. It seemed a little too convenient. Maybe the Solarians are misunderstood or decided to change? I am trying to determine which direction the story is going to go. Obviously there is some sort of conspiracy going, but the question is why? Also, am I the only one who thinks Taya might be a Solarian in disguise?? (hide spoiler)]

Unfortunately some books just don't grab me and this was one of them. I found the characters, plot, and pacing all to be quite boring and predictable. Although I didn't find the writing style to be bad, I just didn't enjoy this as much as I wanted to. I did like how Maddie and Taya have the same brother in a way, though. Also, I am still willing to read the next book. (hide spoiler)]

ch 7 (view spoiler)[ I like the idea of Havenfall being this gate and I think it would be cool to live there and travel. I don't know that Brekken is the bad guy, seems more like he was framed.
Also, I don't trust Taya, something is up with her.

Maddie isn't my favorite and I thought the romance between her and Taya wasn't well done and I don't even care if they get together or not.
