Hmm, I struggled with this because of the controversy surrounding it but it is best to probably read it and form my own opinions. Your request did lead me to search our collection for Latina writers that might better represent this experience. I found a few titles if anyone is interested. But yes we have plenty of American Dirt in the system and if we pick a date in the spring I should be able to get plenty of copies.

Since we like to go local on occasion in our selections I recently came across Bootlegger's Daughter by Margaret Maron, which might be of interest. That's quite a cover, isn't it?

I checked and we have 3 books and one e-audio in the system. I like the description so if the group wants to I think it would be a great book club book!

I am really excited about Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. This book is a nice homage to gothic novels of the 1960's with a little magical realism thrown in. It really describes Mexico in a way I have never thought of. It made me want to learn more about the region. As a plus there is a really nice book club kit complete with a musical playlist, letter from the author and lots of background information. I hope the group gives this book a chance.

I have heard about Mexican Gothic and as a result become interested in reading it too. One of my favorite weird fiction authors (Victor LaValle) was interviewed recently on the NPR show "The Takeaway" on the subject of historical weird author (H.P.
