Great list Jo - about half of your list I nearly put on mine:) (Are you going to add 2 more? and add a + 3 in case you just can't get through some). I was going to put Hitchhikers Guide because I always wonder why I haven't read it. I read quite a bit of The Secret History last year but for some reason I just didn't really get in to it. Wolf Hall and Bringing up the Bodies I have wanted to read for a while but I've only read about 50 pages (if that) of Wolf Hall (it was a bit too heavy for my distracted head at the time). The Minaturist I've heard good things about. The Little Stranger I opened thinking it was The Little Friend (which I wanted to get back to) I read the first few pages then realised it wasn't the same book;)

Oh yeah, I thought of the last two but didn't put them in!
I'll have to wait to think of some more for my +3 depending on how I get on with some of them, if I like The Hilary Mantel books I'll add the third one. I think they're going to be a bit daunting though seeing the size of them!
In which case I'll swap for another Sarah Waters or
Donna Tartt

Popped into the library after work and they had Wolf Hall so that is my next to be tackled!

Well that wasn't what I expected, I did like it but it was quite confusing sometimes who was speaking. I'm going to try Bring up the bodies next

I found exactly the same thing with Wolf Hall. She uses pronouns instead of names so much that you have to keep rereading sentences to work out who is saying or doing something. It's such a shame because it ruined an otherwise brilliant book and turned it into a bit of a slog.

I found by the end that if you assume 'He' always means Cromwell, it saves you having to keep going back and read a conversation to work out who said what. Took me a while though! And am finding Bring up the bodies much easier.

Maybe I'll give it a go then. I did intend to read it straight after Wolf Hall, but by the time I'd got through it I just couldn't muster the energy!

Finished Bring up the bodies, it was easier to read than Wolf Hall I found. Maybe I'd got used to the writing style by then. Did anyone see the TV adaptation on .wednesday?

Despite my plan to use the library more and buy less, I saw The Miniaturist in tesco today and bought a copy so that may be the next read although I have reserved 2 other books at the library.

Slightly bemused by The Little Stranger, starts off fairly ordinary, then gets really quite creepy, and then...end. Anti-climatic would be my one word review!

I've been rubbish at updating this! Well one more down and I am midway through reading The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton , The Vanishing Witch by Karen Maitland and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Live by Douglas Adams

I may be more successful if I focus on finishing one at a time ;)

Well done, Jo! I've been neglecting my list in favour of newer books (bad me). Must get back to it!

Two and a half to go! I might swap the Miniaturist if I can't get into it but will give it another try first.

Well done Jo. My Mum loved The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton . We don't really read many of the same books but once in a while we tell each other about books we've read that we think the other may like. A book that bridges the gap :) So it's on my virtual list of books to read soon (I also took a photo of a window display last summer in Stirling and it was in the display).

The taxidermist's daughter also finished having found it in the library. One and a half to go! I think I need to buy The hitchhikers guide as someone else had booked it in the library so had to take it back before I'd finished but I have the miniaturist I bought waiting to get back into. I only read the first chapter so am hoping it grabs me, everyone does seem to love it so am sure it will.
