8. Your overall thoughts about the story and any other comments?

I loved this story. And I hate insta-love. But Briggs sold it and I bought it. Their love story worked for me. I also enjoyed how they worked together and had each other's backs right away.

Briggs creates such a real world that doesn't need a ton of world-building, I can catch up quickly enough. Also, she always gives us such well-drawn characters that really help move the story along. I knew exactly who Anna was, Charles, Leo, and Isabelle were by the end of this short story. Most series I finish not getting a good enough handle on the characters. Can you tell I love Briggs and anything she writes? Lol

lol, I totally agree with you, Monica. She is a great writer and this novella felt fulfilling as a novel.

I was only going to listen for a few minutes and the next thing I realized was only 15 minutes were left. The story hooked me immediately.

She took an insta-love situation and led me to the water, made me drink and quenched my thirst. It was sexy and erotic...without sex! So well done.

I loved the device used to cover the world building, using Charles to explain things to Anna, as well as his inner thoughts re strategy.

So agree with you about character development. The only question I have is about Charles and Anna's future relationship. I cannot wait to get to the next book!!!

I'm all caught up with the series and waiting for the new one. Its gonna be fabulous!

I'm caught up too but got for Christmas so will catch up on a few short stories I've missed. I can't wait for the next book. I love these two series and, to me anyway, it seems the storylines are converging.
