2. If you've read Mercy Thompson, you're familiar with The Marrok. Did you gain any insights about him from this story?

Even with this being a novella you still get a feeling of Marrok as a father and being an alpha to his pack - rather than the "business" side.

He's always been a fairly elusive character for me. I haven't really understood him. This story closed the gap quite a bit as I got a better sense of his strength and power. It was perfect.

Same for me, Jonetta. I could never quite get a handle on him. But now I get who he is, and hope we get more.


Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments One of the best aspects of the A&O series is the insights we get into other characters who we have only previously gotten to know through Mercy's eyes. Its a benefit of 3rd person narration.

I find Bran and Leah's relationship particularly interesting if disturbing - (view spoiler)
