Frank Abagnale tells of his adventures as a check forger in the 1960’s. He was a teenager in high school when he dropped out and ran away from home. He learned as he went and got a rush from new challenges. He passed as a pilot, doctor, teacher, and lawyer. A pilot was the role he most often used to gain credibility. He purchased a uniform, created his own documents and played the system. Despite his age he got away with his check writing. He thought it was ‘not how good a check looks but how good the person behind the checks looks that influences tellers and cashiers.”
Frank travelled the world and tried to keep ahead of law enforcement. He takes tremendous risks which makes the book exciting. Later when he writes about these experiences he admits his arrogance and flaws, this adds to the story and creates sympathy for the character. It is a fun book where the reader does not know what Frank will do next.
