Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) I haven't read much from Charles Dickens and what I read (Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol and Other Christmas Writings and one or two short stories) was a looooong time a go. So I'm really excited for this week to come :)

Has any of you ever read it? Are you a Charles Dickens fan?

Ashleigh (ashleighsbookshelf) This is on my 'to read' pile. I'm aiming to read at least 4 Dickens books this year and this one has a lot of praise from people I know. I'm not sure, however, that after week 1 being Dickens that I want to have another so soon after! I may have a Dickens as a side read later on in the year though if it doesn't fit in to any particular category.

I will say though, I've only read A Christmas Carol and Other Christmas Writings and I'm presently reading The Old Curiosity Shop and I really like his writing!

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) I get what you saying! Though my doubt is if I want to get on a +400 pages book so soon after ahaha.
I read them all translated but I do remember liking his writing as well!

I also have The Pickwick Papers but I still don't know if I'll be reading it this year. Maybe for "a funny book" week! I was thinking about re reading The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde, it's hilarious!

Vanessa Jahns | 9 comments I read this in high school and hated it. It was 10 years ago so I can't really remember why I hated it. Therefore, I'm giving it a second chance and reading it for week 5.

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) Great Vanessa, I'm glad you're joining in this one!

Lorraine | 57 comments I just started this one last night (yeah yeah, I know, Week 4 is almost over...don't judge me. :p ) After about five pages I decided to switch to something else. oy.

I searched my Kindle for "one" and found some light mystery that I'd downloaded but never read. I'm going that route for this week.

Julia I'm reading this too! I already read David Copperfield, but I don't really remember the story. I'm reading this in german, so I think you can't really compare the writing style, but after 50 pages, I think it's a little bit tiring. I hope it will get better, when he's done with all the character descrpitions.^^

Tammy I have this on my Kindle and want to read it. Not this week though!

Bana AZ (anabana_a) | 414 comments I've only fully read Great Expectations by Dickens and only excerpts of his other books. For him, I find that I enjoy his work when I'm not in too much of a hurry to finish. He really takes the time to describe things.

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) Lorraine what was it that made you switch?

That's great Julia! I hope you are enjoying it!

Tammy maybe this thread can convince you to pick it up afterwards!

Ana, I honestly can't remember his writing style, it's been so long that I've read anything by him.

Tammy It may be my week 52 book since I've tried to start it a few times!

Daisie (daisie4100) This is one of my all time favorite books. Charles Dickens is one of my favorite authors. I think I have read almost everything written by him. I am also reading this book for this week (very late).

message 13: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Pereira (adrianacecilia) We're on the same boat Daisie, I haven't started this one yet! This challenge isn't going as well as I thought it would go ahaha

Daisie (daisie4100) I had started this challenge and then got a new job which was part time but turned to full time and was finishing my last semester of college. Not the best for reading a book a week :) but Adrriana slowly we will get there....or maybe not all the way but at least we tried :)
