Kimberley Cale (kimcale) | 6 comments Hi All,
I know I know she hasn't put one out for a while, but a girl can hope. If anyone knows about another IAD book I'd love to hear any details.
all the best,
Kim

Kimberley Cale (kimcale) | 6 comments Thank you Eunice. Even though it makes me sad if thats the latest. I guess I'll have to hopefully find something similar to read any suggestions?

message 4: by Karina (new)

Karina (northboundnox) | 3 comments Hey Kimberley! I started reading Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series years ago while I waited for Cole’s next books. That series and Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors would be my suggestions. Happy Reading!

Eunice Lopez | 22 comments Psy-Changeling Series by Nalini Singh!!! Really great world building romance and concept. Love this series.

This is the only information I could find, so far and it sounds dubious...
I'm not familiar with her Arcana series...

I looked at your link and couldn't help noticing that there is no publisher listed. I wonder if we will see it. I would really love to see anything published by her now, just to know that all is well and on track.

message 10: by Medusa (new)

Medusa | 29 comments Gim, I did think it is quite interesting that there aren't any mentions of a publisher. Then again, maybe it's a hoax altogether. Cole's silence turns mythical just like her book characters.
I truly am looking forward to any news whatsoever and henceforth rereading her books (once again!!) like an addict.
Let's hope for a new release soon :)

message 11: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments Anyone know what happened to Munro? It was supposed to come out earlier this summer and now zilch. I had read that she either had interest from or was developing the Arcana into a scripted for TV series. I fell off that series wagon after book 3 so all I have left is the IAD. If anyone knows anything please drop some details.

Thanks.

Unfortunately Christine, there is no news... The absence of information is deafening :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling melancholy and in need for IAD updates. People move on, I feel stuck like a tick! :)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments Very sorry that there has been no updated news. I really hope KC is OK. I wonder if her good friend, Gena Showalter, has said anything at all about her lately . . . .

message 14: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments I feel the same way. I think she hurt her leg but not even the publishers think to be savvy enough to use social media for their authors. KC is not the only one either. Then companies wonder why people stop reading or buying their products. 🤔

message 15: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments Christine, you are so right. You'd think that these publishing houses could at least employ one person to make sure their entire stable of authors are regularly updating social media accounts and blogs. If not, the publishing house should step in with updates. Nobody is asking for daily or weekly updates, just a couple times per year would be nice.

message 16: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments The only good/not so good thing about these authors putting no new work out or any updates is I have cleared quite a bit of my Netflix queue. I am also walking tons more and taking my dog to the dog park. I used to always have a book on my phone but now it's my playlists, me and my pooch so maybe I can say I am healthier and not rushing back to curl up and read. Got to look for that silver lining in every gray cloud.😂

message 17: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments Good point! I lost 12 lbs over the summer, just walking more and eating at home more.

message 18: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments Good for you Lulu! I can hold my yoga squat for about a minute and a half. I could not do it for longer than 15 seconds back in April (which coincided with my diminishing TBR pile).

A case of lose something but gain something else positive.

message 19: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments Oh, that's great, congrats! It feels really good to get stronger!

message 20: by Gim (new)

Gim | 38 comments When I went back and checked that publishing thing again, I noticed that it had a publisher. Valkyrie Press. I just googled it and it has various books of hers, so maybe the big problem has been establishing her own publishing house or something of the sort.

message 21: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments Interesting! Thanks for posting that.

message 22: by Sarah Marie (new)

Sarah Marie | 36 comments I've decided to believe that Kresley is on hiatus writing the rest of the IAD series all at once and doing a major plot outline so she can deliver the last 10 books all in one fell swoop that we can devour them and make her the Goddess of Fated Mates Books.

I will believe this until proven otherwise!

xoxo

message 23: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments I like your optimistic attitude! That would be great and we deserve it to happen lol.

message 24: by Chibime (new)

Chibime | 6 comments Hope you're correct sarah marie. Let us all pray that she will deliver all books in the next years, not more than 2030 hahaha

message 25: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments I read somewhere the Arcana Series es was being made into either movies or a tele-series with the hope it would be a “Twilight” type of successful. That could be it. However I am of the mind to NEVER ignore what put food in your pantry.

So glad to hear about so much optimism from fans. Makes me know I’m not alone in my worry or hope. 🙏🏼

Stay safe everyone! This too shall pass.

message 26: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments What with the virus, could be that the Arcana series was shelved or pushed back? I am sure she is busy, with either life or writing, but just a tiny update would be so nice! I'd just like to know she is OK at this point.

I was thinking about the same thing...nevertheless, the hiatus we are talking about has been a long time now and it happened even before... my mind turns into ugly things, like what if she is still not doing well after her accident? I really want her to be okay, nevermind the books...

message 28: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments Yes, exactly, Medusa. Just concerned about her as a person right now and hope she is OK.

message 29: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments Guys,

You are right. The person matters so much more than their product. I just assume she’s good and healthy and just enjoying riding out the Pandemic like the rest of us.

I do hope she and all of humanity are doing as well as they can. Even if folks lost someone to this virus or anything other illness. I hope we are sticking together and will have a vaccine that we can all take to arrest this thing. Authors, actors singers all have a right to lay low (I know I have) so I’ll pray for better days.

Take care of yourself and each other.

message 30: by Medusa (new)

Medusa | 29 comments I am so in the mood for an LK book :), preferably a new one!
I am optimistic.
I feel new info is coming

message 31: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments After trolling Reddit, it appears she is in a legal battle of some sort with Simon and Schuster (her old publisher). She is self publishing through her own Valkyrie Press and if you check both sites S&S has most of her books on their book list and VP has a limited number of books on that site.

The thinking is she’s trying to get her book rights and S&S is not letting her go and that is why it seems that she has dropped off and is radio silent. Not sure about the truth of it all but that is what is going around.

message 32: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments Christine, this makes a lot more sense, thanks! You'd think at a certain point though the long term damage to her career would not be worth such a long hiatus.

But, I guess if she can't get her rights back to her backlist and her characters and S&S is playing hardball about it then self-publishing might not make sense for her?? I sympathize with writers since it is a tough profession but she signed those contracts, whatever they called for, even if it was years ago. Her publisher took a chance on her and promoted her when she was a relative unknown.

message 33: by Medusa (new)

Medusa | 29 comments Christine, that's what I've heard (read) as well and it's quite disheartening to hear it as it can mean a prolonged battle which might even push KC to stop writing about her IAD... I shudder to think, honestly.
I miss her writing fiercely and go back to it whenever the mood strikes, and it strikes frequently :)
Let's hope that she achieves her goals and comes back to us, asap!
I am sticking with her no matter what!

message 34: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments I think it is a tough road for brick and mortar publishers and that might be why they are digging in if the word on Reddit is accurate. Also KC herself said the Arcana was being considered for development as a television series and if that was true I am sure S & S may have a hand in the cookie jar.

She is an exceptional talent and I can see why they’d fight to keep her but I think they should make a deal to let her go. Maybe she can agree to spin off a new “modern” short series of 3 books for S&S along the lines of The Professional and then they let her go with all her goodies OR split profits for a few years on her backlog and then she is free to restart writing under Valkyrie Press.

I think her fans will stick. Her work is too good to pass up. 🙂

message 35: by Lulu (new)

Lulu (lulululu) | 268 comments I think her fans will stick by her and return whenever she is ready to return to writing as well. We are a loyal lot and she's given us tons of reading pleasure over the years.

I can totally see why S&S is playing hardball though, especially if Arcana is in possible development for TV.

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments I have not read ANYONE as good as KC In their world building and general hawtness. JR Ward came close but she is not writing like she used to and a lot of the other paranormal writers are (for me) meh... I will wait her drama out. I figure like good make up sex. When she is Queen of her kingdom. That will be some awesome stuff.

I agree with you Christine. Although she has some very repetitive or rather go to phrases (thick accents in peak lovemaking times as he/she has never heard before and such :) that she uses in almost all of her books, our KC is special and worth the wait!

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments That she is. Let’s put that good energy out into the great literary universe and maybe the writing Gods will grant us a boon on 2 books this year and Valkyrie Press up and running with her entire catalogue AND maybe a new modern series by July 4, 2021. 🙏🏼🤞🏼

Hear! Hear!
Good vibes beam turned on max!
Memo to all the gods, active and inactive, sent!
Corporeal chorus humming scintillating and novel invoking music, at the ready!
The goddess of impossibilities sermon, on stand by.
We are a go!

message 44: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments It is believed she is at odds with her publisher after she decided to self publish under her own Valkyrie Press. They are probably trying to hog tie her to either a contract or keep her previous works as their property under her deal with them.

Her fans don’t believe she is sick or has ceased writing, she may just be on a long assed radio silence until its sorted out...

Or we are all TOTALLY wrong and she hit her magic bank account number and bounced. 😊 Either way she’s dropped off the literary face of the earth.

Every now and then, I reread all her IAD series and never get tired of it. I am so ready for something KC, it's crazy. None of the new stuff excites me, and nothing I read now is something that I am really into, which is super crazy, too! I guess, it's all kinds of crazy in her side, too! :)
In all seriousness, though, I cannot imagine what she might be going through. I can only wish her the best and hope for some update soon.

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments Medusa, you and I are rowing the same boat. Maybe we should start a letter writing campaign to S & S telling them to free Kresley!

Even my GR reading quota is minimal because nothing is exciting enough to drop money on.

Christine,
"Free The Cole! Save Our Soul!" pamphlets and signs are at the ready. I am willing to try :)
Also, I truly (vigorously nodding in agreement, yet again!) agree with you on the reading quota being minimal... I created an account in hopes of being blissfully drowned in new books, new authors...and granted, I did find an author or two whom I liked and read...nevertheless, the abundance of new books proves to be rather tiring. I know I love Lisa Kleypas and I know I adore Kresley Cole. The rest seems to elude me. Heh, it's probably me being me.

message 48: by Christine (new)

Christine (awinkandasmile) | 31 comments I love the tag line for setting Kresley free. You are a marketing genius! I kinda thought in a Pandemic authors would be in their pj's with their leg and pit hairs all grown out writing furiously. Alas, I was so wrong. Kleypas is my auto buy. As are Emma Chase, Tessa Bailey and Elle Kennedy but Kresley is in a class by herself. I have Wicked Abyss still in my TBR download pile because I know once I read it that's all I'll get. I've also circled through her backlog twice now. Given the power of GR which is owned by Amazon. I am sure someone knows Bezos (or the new guy who's taking over). Someone has to cattle prod these folks into cutting her loose. Even worse, let's say she is set free she may never write as dynamically as she once did. She is the writer's version of Prince when he had that weird symbol because he felt he was a slave to the record label and no longer an artist...

message 49: by Medusa (new)

Medusa | 29 comments Authors in ample au naturel body hair peeking under their seen-better-days pajamas, bathing in the blue ray of their screens and clicking away furiously is an image I find oddly familiar! :)
Wicked Abyss is amazing. It's going to leave you on a high, for sure.
I will give my fellow Canadian, Elle Kennedy a try. Thanks Christine!
Elisa Braden is similar to Lisa Kleypas (gives the Kleypas vibe) but nobody writes like Kresley Cole (and I tried/read all the similar ones!)
I am currently stuck in a rut.
