Feliks (dzerzhinsky) | 159 comments I enjoyed reading the two remarks of Skjordur.

My contribution:

If by 'classism' one means a tool or an attitude, whereby one class takes action to disenfranchises another class, that is one thing. Yes, feudalism, as Skjordur suggested.

But if by 'classism' one refers to analysis of one level of society by another level [such as Marxist analysis] that can be something else. There's nothing discriminatory in realizing that society has a 'working' class, a class which produces goods for a 'consuming' class. In this sense, 'discrimination' can be a positive and empowering attitude; it can be a form of scrupulousness and discernment; it can be a means whereby a disadvantaged class can regain it's equal footing.

Another way of looking at fascism is to examine it as an economic model. Karl Polanyi devotes 1/5th of his famous 'Great Transformation' to this topic. In these hectic times lately --when people demand fast/dirty answers -- I've heard fascism defined as simply as this: 'any state which fosters alliances with its corporate partners'.
