The Procrastinators Book Club discussion

Welcome to A Torch Against the Night Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on August 1st and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are based on the hardcover pages that are on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

Week of 8/2

I'm on Chapter 3 amd really stuggling to get into it, i think it might have something to do with Laia

She's the only thing stopping me from finishing the series, but I saw this incredible fanart of the two the other day and now I can't decide if I should continue or not.

I honestly have never disliked a main character quite so much! But, I enjoyed everything else about the first book so I'm persevering. I'm praying she's redeemable.

Oh, I hope she's not more annoying than in the first book.
I'm going to start it tomorrow and catch up.

I read the fist 10 chapters.

I don't find Laia any more annoying than in the first book, however I don't really feel like I care about what's going on. I liked Elias in the first book, so far I guess he's okay. I liked Helene in the first book too, if I remember correctly, but I'm not that into her having her chapters. I don't know why.

And I'm irked by the attraction between Elias and Laia, like they had minimum time to get to know each other and what not.. but whenever Elias touches her he just gets lust-y over her.

I'm listening on Audiobook and i just keep zoning out!

I am liking that there are chapters from Helene's point of view, I find her the most likeable character. It'll be interesting to see where her character goes.

Yeah, I don't understand the "thing" between Elias and Laia either. It just doesn't feel that believable and makes me want to eye roll so hard.

I'm listening to it and reading it because maybe I too would zone off 😅 So far I'm not that interested, we'll see how it'll go

I'm sorry Mina but I've had to DNF. I'm having a rough week heapth wise, I keep trying with it but it's just not happening. I hope you enjoy it though :)

@Laura You had a great idea by DNF-ing this. I wish it was worse so that I DNF-ed it too. It was not worth my time.

Oh dear, I hate it when I read a book that's a complete waste of time. There are way too many amazing books on my TBR to read something meh.

Too late I remembered to look up summaries of books. I looked up what'll happen in the next book because I'm a little curious but I have no intentions of reading it. And what I read was meh too to me. One thing that was a bit of a surprise that I thought would happen in book one (view spoiler)[I thought Cook is Laia's mother. Surprise, book 3 says she is (hide spoiler)]
