Yoly (macaruchi) | 795 comments io9.com posted a list of some mind-blowing science fiction and fantasy books to watch out for in 2015.
The list is a bit long but I found a few books that seemed interesting to me:

The City of Mirrors, the third book in Justin Cronin's The Passage series. Since I read it was supposed to be a trilogy I've been waiting for the third book to come out before I read the first one.

Aurora by Kim Stanley Robinson seems interesting.

And Seveneves by Neal Stephenson, because...Neal Stephenson!

Here's a link to the full post.

Dimity | 6 comments I'm excited about The Just City (out today!!) and The Galaxy Game this month. I bought The Galaxy Game last weekend and will have a copy of The Just City as soon as the library processes it.

Alicja (darkwingduckie7) | 772 comments I am looking forward to Radiance by Catherynne M. Valente. I recently read Deathless, loved it, and this new book sounds like it could be just as amazing. It is slated to come out in August and I'm so excited!

I am also looking forward to Uprooted because the main character's name is Agnieszka, and damn, its my first name (Alicja is my middle name and what I go by in America), and because it is virtually unpronounceable to the English speaking world, its so cool that'll be the main character's name.

And then Time Salvager, Love in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, The Water Knife, The Black Wolves.

...and of course Aurora and Seveneves because I love both those authors.

Very cool sounding name. Is that pronounced "Agnee-esh-ka"? Is that like Agnes in English and Inés in Spanish?

Speaking of being interested in a book because of the main character's name, I have The Gathering Storm on my to-read list only because the main character's name is Katerina which is not my name but for some reason I love the name. I name all my video game characters either Katerina or Katherina.

Yup, that would be it. But I still prefer Alicja (and if grandma had her way, that would have been my first name... but she lost out to my parents, lol; I think she derives a bit of smug satisfaction from the fact that I use it like a first name).

Yoly (macaruchi) | 795 comments So in the end grandma won :)

Sometimes I wish I went by my middle name, I never liked my first name as a kid and always said I would legally change it when I was old enough. I think it was mostly me being rebellious since it's also the name my mother goes by, which it's actually her middle name. After so many years it would be weird for me if people started calling me something else!

Sarah | 71 comments This is my list of stuff I'm looking forward to this year.

1) Kelly Link's Get in Trouble aka my reward for finally finishing everything I needed to read for 2014 Nebula nominations. I can finally start it tonight.
2) Neil Gaiman's new book, even though the title is stupid.
3) Ken Liu's The Grace of Kings
4) Maria Dhavana Headley's Magonia
5) Jo Walton's The Just City and the sequel that is also coming this year?
6) Fran Wilde's Updraft
7) Daniel Jose Older's Half-Resurrection Blues
8)Genevieve Valentine's Persona
9) Queers Destroy Science Fiction (the kickstarter ends today and is almost at $50000!)
10) Hidden Youth, the followup anthology to Long Hidden
11) Radiance by Cathrynne Valente, as mentioned above.

Alicja (darkwingduckie7) | 772 comments If a few of us want to read Radiance, then maybe we should read it as a monthly read after it comes out. Would anyone be up for that?
