A brand new, state of the art library is about to open in Kyle's town and it is donated by Mr. Lemoncello, the eccentric game designer and Kyle's hero. When he finds out there is an essay contest for 12-year old children and twelve winners will get to spend the night in the new library before it opens, Kyle is determined to win a spot. Once inside the library, they find out that it is truly a contest to solve the puzzle and escape the library and the first one out wins a huge prize.

This is one of my twelve year old son's favorite books. He has read it several times and was very excited to share it with me. We are doing a summer reading challenge where we each made each other a list of books to read and whomever reads the most from the list wins. This was at the top of the list he made for me. This was very fun book. There are a lot of characters but they all have unique strengths that they use to solve the puzzles. It is also fun trying to solve the puzzles along with the characters. They puzzles are not impossible for the reader to figure out, but they are not too obvious either. I especially love the number of great books that are mentioned in this one. The end of my kindle edition had a check list of all the books that are referred to in the story and I am pretty sure I know what next summer's reading challenge for my son will be.

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments I thought this book was super cute. Great idea to keep the puzzles open, so the reader can play along.

I didn't realize there were now 4 books in this series. I think I've read the first two.
