Long ago, as a little child
Words and books left me feeling beguiled
Escape I found and far away places
(Indian villages and Steeple chases )
Arabian horses, England’s fine courts,
(I learned how to ride and eat with a fork)
Late evening nights, early misty dawns
(Never while moving) (But often with yawns)
I read and I read till the year of 2000
When mental illness struck and left me dumbfounded.
All words I’d learned (and stories included)
Stopped me from reading as I fully secluded.
14 years passed, till I was once again able
To read anything other than my Bible while stable.
(Thank you, Lord Jesus, lack of reading ain’t fatal.)
