Interesting topic for a book, the main technique mentioned is to breath through your nose and not your mouth and all the associated benefits that comes with that. The author did a lot of research on the anthropology of that and tried to explain the science behind it and also supplemented with many anecdotes (some religious practises) of how certain breathing technique has cured certain pulmonary related condition.

It is a quick read, half of the book contains notes and also some breathing techniques. If you are only slightly interested in the topic then you can find articles and interviews of the author online and just get a taste of it first.

Lots of food books. "The Way We Eat Now" is another one.
