There might be an addition to the spreadsheet linked above coming... It's the first time I've set up a team as a mod, so am doublechecking that with the others! Have fun exploring the world together.

Edit: I started on one spreadsheet idea tonight, but Sheets was not cooperating with my attempts to paste images and I have to work tomorrow, so I'm done for the night. I will happily work on it more again tomorrow evening. There's nothing related to points in it yet, but of course, that will be added. I listed our options for each location and I figured once we decide which to do, we can cross out the two we're not doing, so it will be clear which we've selected.
Of course, please speak up about any changes you would like to see on our spreadsheet. Or if someone else has a totally different idea, I seriously won't be offended. : )

Welcome to the team, we are currently deciding team name

I like Journey to the Center of a Book and I also have lots of books written by Japanese autors or happening in Japan.

~~~~~
Love the 'Where in the World is that Book?' best but the others ring quite nice as well :)
~~~~~
Read books set in Japan or by Japanese authors.
Complete a spell-it-out of Kagoshima or Japan.
Detour: Read a book with someone with black hair on the cover.
Can do any of these. I we choose Option 1, I'd use The Great Passage or Fifty Words for Rain for it.

K - can do (M.)
A - can do (M.)
G - can do (M.)
O - can do (M.)
S - can do (M.)
H - can do (M.)
I
M - Kirsty gray
A
or
J - can do (M.)
A - can do (M.)
P
A
N
of which 2As would be double-purposed
(O or G On Grand Strategy by Gaddis, S - CELERITY - Scott Falcon. A - Fifty Words for Rain Asha Lemme, H or J or K - Her Dark Silence: A Novel).
Japan also +.
Some Qs:
If we do the spell-out, how many players need to do the spell-out? How many letters can 1 player do tops? Am I right in assuming that's 1 letter for each team member (to get everyone doing the task) + any number of remaining letters (to complete)?
From what I see about points, we'll get 35 points max, incl 10 points for task completion, 15 for 6 readers from the team participating (at least 1 letter book or Japan book) and 10 if everyone chimes in (is that possible?) Does that mean that either everyone reads 1 book about Japan or we all spell out KAGOSHIMA? Since if we spell out JAPAN, we'll have only 5 participants and will have only 10 points for completion?

Maybe, we can do the spell out of Kagoshima, like Misericordia suggested? And for the spell it out, it is always the first letter of the word/name, right?
I don't know when the books need to be started or if you can use books that you've allready begun.

we need 9 members to do a letter. So, right now, how many is their in our team? If we are 8, there's one book left. Maybe this one can be for a faster reader or someone reading smaller books?
I think Japan is not a good option, because of team participation and low points.
And to read books of Japan or by Japanese authors, not everyone has that.
Kagoshima is the right option for us all?

I revised and updated our spreadsheet for our first destination and added Kirsty for M, Saar for H, and me for one of the As. I also added a tab with information about the scoring and rules.
I'm going to go add the rest of the screenshots now, if Sheets will cooperate for me today.

The book that I'm reading is The Darkest Hour: 'Hour' for H.
Normally finished tomorrow.

I don't think that book will work for H unless the author's first or last name, the series name, or one of the character's first, last, or nick-names starts with H. It's only the very first letter or the title (or the very first letter after A, An, The) that counts for a spell-it-out.
Spell-it-out rules
Using the first letter in the book’s title, the first letter of the series name, the first letter in the author’s first or last name, or the first letter of a character’s first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter in the audiobook narrator's first or last name. If you are reading a translated version, you can also use the first letter of the translator's first or last name.
As always, if the first letter of a title starts with ‘A’, ‘An’, ‘The’, etc., you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.

Added Stephanie's and Thea's books to the spreadsheet.
Misericordia - If you have read them since August 26, can we plan to use the K and G books that you read?
That leaves O and I, but if those don't work for you Abbie and Sarah, I would be willing to give up A to read an I book instead and Misericordia has read an O book that we could swap for K or G. Additionally, we can still earn full points if up to two people read something that doesn't fit the task, as long as we still complete our spell-it-out, which should be no problem.
I also messaged the mods and asked them to update our team member list to:
Thea
Sarah
Abbie Discosuperfly
Nicol
Kirsty Gray
Saar the Book Owl
Misericordia - The Serendipity Aegis
Stephanie

To be fair the book is all about the fertility issues of a couple and so the baby is a huge deal lol. Let me know!
Book is Stay With Me by Ayobami Adebayo so I could definitely use an A if you want to switch, Nicole, and the O doesn’t work.

The baby’s name probably would count, but since we have the option to use A instead, I will put your book under A and I’ll take either O or I, since I have books in my to-read pile for all of these letters. 🙂
Abbie: Do you have a book for O, I, K, or G that you want to read? If not, we can also use all three of Meisercordia’s books and you can read any book you want.

Hey! All read since Sept 2.
But you're totally right, I should take the reads from August 26. But that's Ok, since we can bank those books for the future threads, right?
PS I added dropdown lists of team members to our SS for convenience. I think I'll add further a countif thingy to do an automatic check of our points, ok?

And ok on the countif. I had put in a formula earlier to tally our points up in the corner, but it was showing #Value since we didn’t have any points yet, so I took it out until later so it wouldn’t look like a mistake. 🙂 I work with Excel for a living, but I’ve hardly used Sheets at all. I was surprised how much trouble it gave me and how the If statement I would usually use to hide the #Value didn’t work. lol

And ok on the countif. I had put in a formula earlier to tally our points up in t..." Uh-huh, it seems that sheets need to be restarted before the formulas start working. I experimented a bit on Petropavlovsk sheet :)
Love the color scale and the layout you created!
Played a bit more around: -> our detours are calculated basing on the flag near the detour line on each sheet (as soon as any of detours are flagged to TRUE, the detours will flow to all the sheets following it and the completion points below set to 25 -> checks for 6 members / 15 points and 8 members / 10 points happen on their own.
Looks like we're almost done with this week's tasks! We need just 1 entry. Wow!

Abbie, I've just finished an I book (I Spy) as well, can take that one and you would take G, if you like it?

That means, as soon as everyone has finished reading the listed books and lets us know, we’ll be ready to move to our second destination. (We need to stay at each destination for at least a week, but since this first one technically started August 26, we’ve done that.)
