Flyingbroom Hi all,

I've just read this article and I'm absolutely appalled. How can an airline allow this to happen? And with the compliance of other passengers.

I am shocked and angry.

Shomeret | 33 comments It could be that many of the passengers were ultra-Orthodox themselves. They are a growing percentage of Israel's population. This may mean that the airline can't afford to lose the ultra-Orthodox as passengers, and wouldn't want to offend them. This would definitely be true of El-Al.

Flyingbroom Yes, it could be that. Now let's imagine that the majority of the passengers were white supremacists and the lady in question was black. Would the airline adopt the same attitude?

Shomeret | 33 comments If the majority of the passengers really were admitted white supremacists who are not ashamed of saying so, I would boycott the airline because they must be marketing to them. Such an airline probably would have a policy of not seating black passengers at all and would probably say at the desk that she couldn't get a seat on any of their planes because all the flights were full.

This is where the policy of being accommodating to the Ultra-Orthodox is eventually leading--entire planes where women can't get a seat at all.
