Hi everyone!

Ingrid here. I know this August is probably busy for all of us -- school, taking care of family, jobs, etc. But we're all also writers. Regardless of the future of this group, I know that isn't stopping you all from networking with other writers, so I wanted to ask: outside of this group (and even Goodreads) where do you guys find your writer friends?

For me, I've just now realized that I can engage with other writers outside of Goodreads. In an age where blogs and meetups exist, Goodreads groups feel too limiting. I just joined a private writer's group that's membership based, but the price is worth it to me because there are weekly (virtual) critique and review sessions. Though I know it's different for anyone

So how about you all? Do you join writer's meetups? Go to conventions? Facebook Groups? Other [insert site] group's? LinkedIn? How do you meet your writer friends and learn network? And do you make writer friends, just to bounce ideas off of, get your work critiqued, or is there more to it?

Susan Draper | 2 comments Good afternoon Ingrid,

As a new, self-published author, I would really love to attend a convention! COVID has made it hard to accomplish, so far. I joined some Facebook/Goodread groups but to meet other talented people in person is what I hope to do as soon as possible.

Thanks for asking!

Hey Susan! I swear I had read and responded to this but I absolutely agree, and didn't even take into account the COVID-19 aspect of networking, but so true!

Conventions, clubs, groups, I crave that community, though I haven't found much luck since writing this post! I think I may scavenge for some active events out there.

Thanks, and hope you've been able to find a community of your peers as well!
Very Best,
Ingrid
