I'm working on getting some of my favor self-published works added to our bookshelf. What are some of your favorites?

Well, obviously Living the Way. Thanks again for recommending this one to me! Also Constellation.

Mel Baker (themelbaker) | 76 comments I haven't read it, but I stumbled across one ~ Witch In The Woods by Taylor Ann Bunker. If you want to add it? Are you just adding all books that we come across that are SP or only ones we plan to read. Every group is different so just wanted to make sure.

message 6: by Abby (new)

Abby Snodgrass | 537 comments Mod
I think we should add any books we come across that are SP. Because the whole point of this group in my mind, is to connect readers with SP Authors and support SP authors. So I don't want to only add to our bookshelf the ones I want or the ones I want to read, ya know.

I don't think you can add to the bookshelf unless you are a moderator of the group, but you can comment any you know of in this thread and I will get them added ❤

Hi Abby, I am very new to this so just trying to get my head around how it all works. I am an indie author with a couple of my own books (Diary of a Shy Backpacker (a humourous adult travel romance series), and Spydar's Web: How to Capture Happiness (a unique self help model). I would love to get more widely read and reviewed. I also now almost exclusively read indie books and publicise them on my instagram account, but would certainly have quite a few recommendations for this group. How do I proceed? Sorry if this seems obvious. Bruce.

Hi Bruce, so glad you joined us, and I'm sorry for my late response, between getting locked out of my account, and the Holiday, I'm a little behind.

If you will reply and link both of your books using the add book link just above the chat box, I will get your books added to our bookshelf.

There is a discussion folder specifically for SP/Indie authors. You can promote your works, ask for reviews etc in an existing thread within that folder, or start your own thread within that folder.
As for promoting other people's work, you can do that in any appropriate threads, and as often as you wish. I would encourage you to reply back with a list of books from SP authors if you don't already see them in our bookshelf, and I'll get them added.

I would also encourage you to join us for our monthly BOTM, and our quarter reads. This month, we are doing an independent read. A message to the group just went out, so check your inbox for details.

Again, I'm so excited you joined us, and look forward to getting to know you and your work.

Bruce Spydar | 20 comments Hi Abby,
Thank you for your message and welcome. I am not sure whether I am doing it correctly ... it is not so intuitive to me, but I am trying to link books of mine that may be of interest to the group.

Diary of a Shy Backpacker: Awakening Down Under

Diary of a Shy Backpacker: ii. Eye on the Prize

Spydar's Web: How to Capture Happiness: A mind model for re-booting your positivity

Cross my fingers that this works.

Gary Stringer | 49 comments Hi

I'd like to add the 2 books from my fantasy series Salvation of Tempestria to the Bookshelf, please:
Shifting Stars
and
Gathering Storm

Also, in the interests of not being entirely self-serving, I'd recommend adding
Island Girl by Aino Lahteva.

David Guy | 1 comments Hello to all,
I’m new to the group, and in fact this is the first group I’ve ever posted in. I’m not an SP author myself but my daughter is, and obviously I am completely biased, but I think she’s a really great author.
I’m so sorry if I’m breaking any protocols, just tell me if I am, and I will learn the house rules slowly! I have to admit that despite not being that old, I’m a bit in the last century when it comes to the online world.

Anyway, I’m going to recommend her book here, if that’s ok? It’s self published.
It’s called Claude and the Dark Force by L.M. Guy and it’s had some really good reviews from the people who have read it.

I’m pretty sure you can read the first chapter for free as a sample.
If anyone does read it I’d be glad to hear what you think.
It’s definitely a book not to be judged by its cover or title, you’ll know what I mean if you read it.
Kind regards,
David

Gary Stringer | 49 comments Not a request for the Bookshelf, but a question about the Bookshelf.

With 132 entries and counting, I wonder if there's any way the Bookshelf could be subdivided by genre. I can't help thinking the haystack is a lot smaller than it was, but finding that needle could still take a while.

It's a good point, and something I would like to work on. With the way GR is though, each book has to be edited, and saved individually to move, so it's a time consuming process, but still something I plan on working on next year.

Baby steps lol

Xanxa | 24 comments I'd like to have some of my books added to the bookshelf if that's acceptable to the admins. I write fantasy in a modern day setting, often combined with elements from other genres such as sci-fi, espionage thrillers, prison/courtroom dramas, old-school gangster movies and multi-generational family sagas.

Thanks, Joanie. I didn't want to list them all in case people thought I was being greedy. Now you've offered, I'd also like these ones listed:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097J6F6QB
and
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097KG8XCT

I should mention that the second link is an incomplete series. I'm in the midst of writing the other two books which will round out the series.

Thanks for your welcome and for listing my books.

😂Yes, I did offer. Xanxa, I am more than happy to add all your books and hopefully increase readers for your stories. In that spirit, check out the link below to see if it's something you'd be interested in.

Your books are now listed on our bookshelf.

Joanie 😊
