I finished this set of chapters and, first and foremost, I LOVE Zafia. She’s my absolute favourite character, though I love them all! Laila actually reminds me of Nina from Six of Crows hehe.
Secondly, ahhh oh my god, Roshani’s writing is spectacular as always and her imagery is just PERFECTION. I love it!! And the storyline! It’s soooo interesting and I love the world-building and magic!!
Can’t wait to read more ;))

Hey!
I’m so sorry that it has taken me sooo long to start reading this book! I’m so sorry but you are right, it’s easy to loss ourselves in this book. I love her writing and the start of this book is pretty great! Will post my thoughts and I’ve updated the chapters so they are separated by parts, to make it easier for us to stop and gather our thoughts together before moving on :)

Prologue
- [ ] Wow did they just cut her finger and stole the ring?
- [ ] I’m a little confused as to what the ring does but we will soon see
Part 1
- [ ] So Forging means “playing god” and having the ability to create and reshape forms, like nature and objects ?
Ch 1 Séverin
- [ ] Oh why did they declare his House as dead if he is very much alive? Perhaps he was so young when his parents died
- [ ] This is very mysterious stuff and I love it
- [ ] I’m pretty sure when I read the blurb it said the book is set in the 1800s, but it sounds like things are pretty futuristic here, like a floating champagne glass to float towards you? Sounds cool
- [ ] But looks like they are in trouble since they discovered their fake ID
Ch 2 Laila
- [ ] Oooo I like the descriptions of the Forging
- [ ] Triston’s liquid forging sounds amazing! I could picture it in my mind!
- [ ] This is so different to the other fantasy writing that Roshani writes, I don’t know if I can explain it, it’s not lyrical, it’s more straight to the point without much fluttery which i really like. Even though I still like her fluttery writing as well
- [ ] Zofia means both terrifying and awesome. She seems like a serious yet fun person if you know her
Ch 3 Enrique
- [ ] A map within a compass, how fitting 😂
Ch 4 Zophia
- [ ] Hmmm i like how we get diagrams of what was explained because if we didn’t I would’ve been confused 😂
- [ ] I like how we get a bit of history in these passages, first Egyptian symbols then the bible passage. I like it
Ch 5 Séverin
- [ ] I love Séverin and Triston’s brother relationship. It’s very nice and sweet
- [ ] Also I sense tension between Laila and Séverin 😉
- [ ] I hope that when Séverin does recover his House he doesn’t become the arrogant man he vows not to be

all good girl, i know you're busy, don't even worry about it! i hope life is ok for you and you have some time to yourself (away from work!). thanks for updating the threads into parts, sorry about that, i didn't realise the book was separated into parts!
and yes, it's so easy to lose yourself in Roshani Chokshi's writing ;)
