Melissa Starting date: Friday 16
The final installment in The Darkest Minds trilogy.

Vega_girl I just finished!!! This was amazing!!!

Melissa I have like 100 pages left to go. I'll most lilely finish later but so far I am really liking this!

Ewide Whoa I'm confused (and way behind). I saw your other comments-does it take a little to pick up? I'm about 25% done...

Melissa Lol you're not behind. I just got too carried away reading. I don't want to put a damper on your mood but it takes more than 50% for something to actaully happen and then it's back to nothing again.

Ewide I got some reading to do :)

Melissa I just finished.
...wow...
Loved it!
Let me know when you guys are done to dicuss :)

Ewide wow.... already

Melissa I tried to stop. I even read a book in between but last night I started again and couldn't stop reading. Appearently the fact that I'd be nonfunctional today did nothong to deter my reading :P

Louisiana36 wow speed readers don't give away the story, me and eric just getting started but so far i like what im reading i can't put it down either.

Melissa My lips are sealed :)

It's a toss up between Vida and Clancy. Yes, I said Clancy. No, you did not read wrong hehe

Ewide Clancy?? Vida all the way!

Melissa He's so enigmatic, you never really know with him. He's selfish, no doubt about it but it always feels like there's more to him. Like there's somthin we don't see.
But Vida is definitely on my favs list.

You can tell the difference between the two brothers liam is like a ppls person and cole is straight military

I think Alexandra did the characters really well here. Everyone is completely different. You can basically tell who's speaking even when she doesn't write the names.

Adam Fletcher Great book! How has no one mentioned Cole Stewart....he is a badass!

Well that is definitely true. I wonder why he's the only mentioned adult that had powers?

OOOOOOOO that's a really good point!! Didn't think of that :p

Louisiana36 Adam wrote: "Great book! How has no one mentioned Cole Stewart....he is a badass!"

probably because he never tells anyone he had powers, the others that the government was threaten by was killed.

Ewide Sorry it took me so long but I finished. Don't hate me but I gave it a 3 :( I really liked the way the author wrote and the characters were very interesting, but it felt like this book fell short.

I totally agree with you Melissa on your review:
"I'm not saying this was perfect, for I refuse to lie. It had tons of room for improvement. This 535 page book could have probably been shortened into a good 300 pages. The characters at times were irritating, the plot dragged(a lot), the ending unclear and it just left one too many questions unanswered..."

Maybe with it being a conclusion I expected way more. Nothing really happened in the first half of the book. I'm not crazy about switching POV's, but I would've enjoyed reading the Chubbs&Vida and Liam&Cole side missions rather than just getting the outcome. I was reading the review by Ferdy (https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4...) and she made some good points-kinda how I felt.

Was it me or did that 'Thurmond Op' feel way too short?! I was all of 2 chapters. I knew it was coming and couldn't wait to read that part...then it was over :/

I'm still on Team Vida and I even started to warm up to Clancy near the end!

Melissa That really bothered me too, that last scene at Thurmand was supposed to be epic. And it ended up being one the most anticlimatic endings of all time.

And even though I liked Clancey(a lot) I still felt he should have been shot, or cruely murdered or something. Anything. The fact that Ruby decided to take the high road irritated the living bejeezus outta me. I wanted stone cold revenge!

Also the Cole thing really la ked any emotion. When that whole scene came up, there was no doubt in my mind it was him. Kind of a lackluster.

And what in th world happened to Nico? After she held him up on that cell, we never hear from him again.

As for the president, pffft. Another person that demanded to be killed.

Also open endings... Argh, I really get put off bu thos last scenes where they take off into the road. We got nothing. We know absolutely nothing. Zilch. Nada. Nill. Squat.

Ok, ok. Rambling over

Almost forgot. Secondary characters. Lightyears better than the primary ones.

MaddyLeeReads For me, the breakout of Thurmond was really good. Especially when all the kids are running towards their parents. Each character is amazing and I cried after finishing the book and wasn't left hanging unlike a few other series that I had finished before this one.

Ewide Hi Maddy!! Welcome to the group!

Nothing wrong with the ramble... ramble on :)

Yes I loved the secondary characters and another reason why I felt the book fell short. So much potential for all of them. Yea I wanted to hear about Nico, Sam, no action for Zu?!, etc...

I liked the Thurmond Op, just the whole end of the book felt like it was rushed. Felt like majority of the book the kids were just arguing with each other. She could've used some of those pages for the ending...

The open ending didn't bother me so much, just the fact it all was over so quick :(

What did yall think about the Reds being so 'feared'??

MaddyLeeReads I think the Reds were over-feared. They were just the same as all the other kids but I think the fear continued to grow because they were "made" or brainwashed into Military weapons.

Louisiana36 yes me too i was expecting a good thurmond breakout, I understand it was for ruby to get closure on her end, but they could've been alot more action at the end.

and doctor gray shooting clancy was a little surprising, but she wanted her son back at all cost. vida and chubs getting together i kind of suspected that because they were always at each others thoughts.

yes all the secondary characters where alot better than the main characters. I do wish they did go into more detail about the other ops, which seemed like they would be more interesting.

The end of the story was a let down. clancy good have had little more in it. And cole could've lived and shared more of his story line, showed off more of his powers.

Reds where made out to be ppl to control, i would've made the oranges or the yellow's under my control they have more powers that where needed.

To me the closure of the story looks like the author was in a rush to it over with. but over all series was good read.
