Multiverse travel is finally possible, but there’s just one catch: No one can visit a world where their counterpart is still alive. On this Earth, however, Cara has survived. Identified as an outlier and therefore a perfect candidate for multiverse travel, Cara is plucked from the dirt of the wastelands. Now she has a nice apartment on the lower levels of the wealthy and walled-off Wiley City. She works—and shamelessly flirts—with her enticing yet aloof handler, Dell, as the two women collect off-world data for the Eldridge Institute. She even occasionally leaves the city to visit her family in the wastes, though she struggles to feel at home in either place. So long as she can keep her head down and avoid trouble, Cara is on a sure path to citizenship and security.

But trouble finds Cara when one of her eight remaining doppelgängers dies under mysterious circumstances, plunging her into a new world with an old secret. What she discovers will connect her past and her future in ways she could have never imagined—and reveal her own role in a plot that endangers not just her world, but the entire multiverse.

her time with Nik Nik in that other world - the one where he was nice - was a bit odd and I wonder if she'll find herself back there or if she can never forgive him. I wouldn't blame her either way

I like Cara more with each section
I'm glad she finally got to talk to Dell and try to understand what was going on. and talk to her sister
horrible that they've killed Jean for what Cara did but I guess he was trying to make amends for what he'd done (hide spoiler)]

I'm done and I loved it

she left Adam with the option to make his legacy a good one (and to NOT do what he was thinking of doing). I mean, he wasn't going to live forever, it was good she reminded him of that

I also loved all the Mr.'s and Nik Nik (even if Nik Nik was a jerk 90% of the time!) She had so much history with him, he was interesting. I love that Dell finally found her

Part 2 (view spoiler)[ I am so shipping Cara and Dell. I really love how much thought Cara puts into each interaction with Dell in the hopes that Dell would even consider her. I can't help but think that Adam Bosch being the emperor's elder son will be important in the other world somehow. Definitely think I'm a bit traumatized by how Nalene died, I was just starting to like her (hide spoiler)]

Part 2: (view spoiler)[Color me confused on some things.. I thought they couldn't be in the same world at the same time? Isn't that what happened!?!?!? Also, what's with the other guy dying so freaking quickly? I hope things start to make sense soon. Things are getting mad crazy now. (hide spoiler)]

Now that you finished I think you know that the reason she was able to go was because the other her faked her death and so the organization she works for thought she was dead but then she got injured and he had to nurse her back to health basically because of that reason too (hide spoiler)]

I know! so much murder and so many twists and turns that I didn't expect with the plot and it got to the point where it was so convoluted, I had no clue what was going to happen next or how it was going to end. I had that "can't put this down" feeling which I love (hide spoiler)]

I'm going to start a little earlier. I finished my audiobook yesterday so I'm starting this one :)

Chapter 3
(view spoiler)[This is so confusing! She being an imposter is pretty interesting but she is talkig so much about other Earths that I'm not sure what is what is not part of Earth-0. Maybe it's because I'm listening to this on audio but I feel like there is so much info dumping, especially about some Earths (and I think we won't even visit them). (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 8
(view spoiler)[Why would you take a drink from someone whose first action was reach for a knife to gut you? It was so obvious there's something in that water.
There is still stuff I'm confused about but it got so much better. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ It was smart move to take him with her but it feels a little bit easy at the same time. I guess she is not going back there. I’m not sure what is going to happen now that she is back. I thought it would end when she go back but I'm just about half way through. (hide spoiler)]

Okay so I managed to finish it and I have to say some of it got better. I still feel like some parts should be explained way more, I still don't like Cara and I really don't like being in her head. But storywise it got better. But I can't give it better rating than 2* because I still have a lot problems with it and I wanted to DNF this so many time in first half!
