ahh what an ending! i definitely got a little annoyed by the romance in this section, it was just a little too insta-lovey, but - as always - the relationship between Hal and Eva was really sweet.
i found it a little strange that we heard NOTHING about mages breaking and losing their memories and magic, and then suddenly it's happening to mages left and right, but ah well. poor Damon, it would be so hard having no memories of anything that had happened in the past few years! again, i found it a little strange that he loved Eva again after just reading a few journal entries, but whatever.
all up this was a really cute book, i really enjoyed it! thanks for the buddy read, ladies :))

I still cannot buy Straton's fatherly love for Hal when he literally condemned her to 15 years of her life, and only when Eva and Damon planed to get the crown themselves the thought of helping Halcyon came to his mind. I mean, you lost a son, I get it. But if he knew Hal that much he should've know that she would hardly hurt Xander.
The romance was really not necessary, if it was implied that something could happen between Eva and Damon in the future it would be so much better! And him falling for Eva after reading a journal was so bizarre.
I totattly agree with you! A few things about the magic system felt really flat. The fire were the ring of power appears... the way they have to sing the enchantments... the risk of losing their magic... all of if was explained in such a rusehd way.
Though Evadne is adorable, Halcyon was my favorite sister. She's so strong-willed and went through so much. You could see that she held her position with pride and respect.
Also, the relics are a big part of the plot, but we don't get to know much about them like how Eva's family managed to get theirs. Plus, why not share with the brother?
Overall I like it, but the potential... so big.
