message 8: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Hi all - I've decided to highlight in bright green on the spreadsheet when a book has been read, and then I'll work out the scores at the end.

message 9: by Marie Claude (new)

Marie Claude (mariecg2001) | 1030 comments Just finished Je voudrais qu'on m'efface for the "set on an island" category. The book is set in Montreal. Not really an exotic island and really not a vacation book... It was a really hard read and I can say it's really not something to read if you feel alone and depressed... But really good!

message 10: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Wow, I managed to finish 2 books in 24 hours (a new record for me)!
Neither one of them is on the spread sheet, yet:

Brides for Brothers & The Marriage Risk (Midnight Sons, #2) both by Debbie Macomber.
Both could be used for:
- a book where a main characters has a job that you’d like your date to have (pilot - or librarian, but I would rather do that myself!)
- Read a book that’s part of a series (Midnight Sons, part 1 & 2)
- Samson and Delilah – Read a romance
- • John and Lorena Bobbitt ( If you’re not familiar with this couple: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_and... ) - Read a book that takes place during a war and the war has a large impact on the characters. (this one only goes for The Marriage Risk (Midnight Sons, #2), since because of WWII the father and the grandmother of the main characters got separated and so a family feud starts, which has a huge impact on the main characters)

message 25: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Finished Fairest, a Lunar Chronicle book. Can fit book that takes place in outer space, book in a series, Why A.

message 26: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Gail, my book The Marriage Risk (Midnight Sons, #2) by Debbie Macomber does not work for 'war'. Because it does not actually take place during the war, Jaxnsmom ruled it as not suitable (to be sure I checked in the questions thread).

message 27: by Paakhi (new)

Paakhi Srivastava (pankh) | 199 comments Connie wrote: "Finished Lady Chatterley's Lover for classic

OMG!!! Connie you read sooo fast...I wish i could read with that speed..

message 28: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Elsbeth, it looks like it's a series - I've put it down under 'series' for you instead, but if you want it under a different category, let me know.

message 29: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Berit, what do you mean by 'Why A'? You've said it twice now, and I don't know what it means.

message 30: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Young adults, also Fairest can count for royalty if needed :-)

message 31: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Gail, I would really hate to have your job ;-) you're doing great and thanks!

message 32: by Marie Claude (new)

Marie Claude (mariecg2001) | 1030 comments Finished Morality Play for historical fiction.

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Gail wrote: "Elsbeth, it looks like it's a series - I've put it down under 'series' for you instead, but if you want it under a different category, let me know."

That's great, thanks! And sorry about the mistake!
I agree with Berit, you are doing a great job! We are really lucky to have you on our team!

message 34: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Berit wrote: "Young adults, also Fairest can count for royalty if needed :-)"

Ah, okay, thanks. By the way, it's YA, not Why A, because Y is short for Young, whereas 'why' is just a question.

message 35: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Thanks, Berit and Elsbeth. This Toppler is a lot easier keeping track than the last Toppler!

message 36: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Sorry about that my AutoCorrect corrects the letter Y to the word why and I never seem to catch it :-)

message 37: by Tejas Janet (new)

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Hee hee, Why A - I like it. Seems fiting for the angst of young adulthood.

message 38: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments I have this new fancy keyboard on my phone that is supposed to predict what I'm going to type. Don't know how it does it when I don't even know what I'm going to type :-) now I'm creating whole new genres of books :-) ;-)

message 39: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Oh Berit, you are so funny!

message 40: by Elsbeth (new)

Berit | 641 comments LOL :-) ;-)

message 42: by Kerri (new)

Kerri finished Water for Elephants which covers a job you wouldn't want your date to have.

message 43: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Hehe - I always disable autocorrect, because it comes up with the daftest things. Berit, your autocorrect was also changing Janet Evanovich to Janet Ivana bitch in the other thread, which flummoxed me at first!

message 44: by Marie Claude (new)

Marie Claude (mariecg2001) | 1030 comments Finished The Giver Just before dinner. It was for the dystopian category

message 47: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Finished The Death We Share by Sharon Short. Gail, you have it on the spreadsheet for 'murder mystery'.

message 48: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Gail, Tangled could also be counted as a sexy book :-) or a book from an author I have not read yet. Please let me know where I can help you guys out if there's a category with bonus points that needs to be filled as a backup.

message 49: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments One more thing, make sure Fairest counts for the book and outerspace. Also out of curiosity how many books have a red yet and do you know our approximate point count? I really have no clue how the point system works ;-)

message 50: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Berit, the spreadsheet is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Books read have been highlighted in green. There are ten points for each book read. Bonus points only come when all the books in certain categories have been read. See the thread where the instructions are given for more details: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
